Not too bad when you're shooting between shivers

I score this as a thirty, is that correct?. Not too bad for a Walmart 597 with a cheapo scope, I suppose. I used Wolf Match and a sandbag from 50 yards.

Sunnyvale?

During my 20 year Army career, I spent the entire summer (May through November) living on the Navy base (Moffett Field) in Mountain View. I was going through a school on a monster computerized system that Sylvania was making for the Army and they put us up on Moffett.

Dunno if Duke's Bar & Grill is still in Sunnyvale or not, or the St. James Infirmary in Mountain View, but them were the two best watering holes during my stay there. One of my fondest memories was getting 86'd out of the St. James for a peanut fight with one of the waitresses.

9x23 WIN,

My 597 mags only hold 9 rounds (even thought they're supposed to hold 10). When I changed to a new mag, I must have forgotten that one. I have a hard time believing I missed it completely. Either way, it's a zero!

I plan to try again with my MAS45. We'll see how she does.

Welcome and good shootin', Virg461! It looks like a 30 to me too, but feel free to fill in that one hole (the bulls with no hole poked in/near it) if you like (I don't believe that you missed entirely either).

:)

i think that this is a 30 though i may be mistaken. shot with a remington 597 with remington 3-9 power scope from 55-60 yards....i'll try to do better tomorrow.

btw, i have no clue what happened on that flyer on the 8th target

Good shooting Brandon! Looks like you and Virg461 are tied for second. As for me, I'll bring up the rear. :)

Brandon, well done! That one flyer is nothing to be ashamed of, seems that there is always one that strays from the pack (unless you're like me...then it's every other one that gets away ).

:)

Got 2 entries for you.
Here is my entry. Savage mkii bv, 20x scope, off bipod and rear bag, prone.

And my brother, "K". CZ thumb hole, 16x scope, rear squeeze bag, off a bipod, from the bench.

Needless to say, I bought the beers today.:p
This trigger nut needs adjustment. Hehhe

Heavies, nice showing for both you and your brother. Do I want to know what the weather is like there?

:)

Hehe. Very nice. We have had bouts of heavy rain and probably will this next week, but yesterday was beautiful. However, the trigger puller was not up to it. I also bombed out on the centerfire side as well.

Rain...what's that?...let me tell you about sleet, snow, and ice... ;)

Haven't checked out the Centerfire results today, but I don't think you did too shabby in this one (though it would look better if you didn't bring your brother along :p).

This was shot with the CZ 452 Ultra-Lux I gave my father for Christmas. He bought a Center-Point 3-9x32 scope for it and I shot this target at 9X setting. Was shooting off a cheap and somewhat frustrating MTM front rest and sandbag rear. Position was seated and range was 50 Yards. The gun is sighted in for my father and shoots a little lower for me so I had to do a bit of hold over. This was actually only my second target and probably shots 18-32 from me for this gun, was running out of day light and had my CZ550 so sight in, so I had no opportunity to try to better my score.

Cheap CCI Blazer ammo. Temperature was 29-33 degrees F. No wind to speak of, possibly 5-10 MPH gusts. Score-38

I might be going back out again this week. I am not sure if I will be using the CZ, or possibly my Marlin 39A or my pre-WWII Mauser .22LR sporter. Unfortunately those guns only have 4x scopes on them.

HOOfan_1, I wouldn't worry about the magnification of the scopes, I often use my Stevens 87D with a fixed 4x and it seems to do fine within 50yds (and my eyesight isn't notably great).

:)

Great shooting Hoofan and Heavies!

i agree with maverick about the magnification. i have a 3-9 on my .22 and i usually set it at about 4 or 5 for 50 yards. any higher and it goes to bunk.

2nd try - this time with irons

Well,

I thought I would try again over my lunch break. 25 yards, MAS 45 with peep sight. I used a front sandbag. I love this rifle.

Those little circles are very, very small and very, very close together without a scope, even at 25! ;)

I score this as a 30.....

cant... wait... till... saturday! (range closes too early to go after school, and it's too much shooting at one time for my neighborhood) my trigger finger itches with excitement as I type!
This is the gun I'm using, without the red dot sight.
