Welcome to the Decembuur (now it's really cold out there) Rimfire Match! This one is open to any and EVERY 22 caliber (as well as 17 and 20 caliber) rimfire rifle including the classic .22LR, as well as the .22Short, .22Long, .22 Mag., 17HMR, and 5mm Rem RF Mag (as well as any oddball rimfires you might want to exercise). This match is meant to be challenging and FUN. Hopefully it will get you out to the range and shooting your rifle. If you have one handy, make sure an bring a friend too.

Multiple submissions are allowed (in same or different division/class with same or different rifles).

There is Two Optics Divisions:
->Iron sights and non-magnified optics and red dots. Shot at 25yds.
->Scopes and other magnified sighting devices. Shot at 50yds.

There are Two Rifle Classes:
->Unlimited/Target Rifles (highly modified rifles, rests, target sights, high magnification optics- over 10x [in the appropriate division] may be used)
->Sporting Rifles (Includes All Non-Target Class Autoloaders, Bolt Actions, Single Shots, Pumps, & Lever Rifles)

Target Class can be shot from any position, Sporting Class is shot from any position without a rest or sandbags. When you are satisfied you've done your best post (or shoot me a PM) a photo of your target scoring with the following information: Forum name or name you want posted in the results, Rifle, make, model, vintage (if known), Sights/Optics (with magnification if applicable), Ammo, Position, Distance, Conditions (in/outdoors, wind, temperature...).

Scored as 1pt for largest dot, 2 for the one slightly smaller, 3 for the midsize dot, 4 for the small dot, and 5pts for the smallest one, and get a bonus of 5pts for staying completely within all 3 of the smallest dots, for a total of 50 possible points.

Scoring Guide Self-scoring is encouraged and appreciated. All submissions due before 2011.

Welcome aboard, Orlando...just remember to shoot between shivers.

Or just accept your shiver, pull the trigger fast, and get back inside where it's warm... ooh, idea! Shoot from inside the house at the target in the back yard! Bingo!

Looks like a fun target; those 5 bonus points are going to be mighty elusive. I had a question about sporting class though. My Savage Mark II has a bull barrel and a thumbhole stock (came from the factory like that). If I shoot it without the bipod and my elbows on the bench, is that acceptable for sporting class?

As I remember the Sporting class is for unmodified, standard barrel, hunting type rifles.

Is there a handicap for shooting near or past 45N latitude? By New Years Eve, it is really winter for some of us. :)

The heat ain't working on the indoor range I shoot at = that should even it up a bit. Not quite sure just when I can get there this month, but will shoot it with the Romanian M69 trainer.

Great target. Would prone with bipod make it target class? I suppose a bipod is a rest.
Yep, like Orlando said, a bipod would put you in the target class, but you could always shoot prone, sling up tight, and rest your elbow (body parts don't count ;)).

That's the idea. As far as bull barrels, I would rather keep it to a light or medium sporting contour (something with a taper that you would use in the field), but there really isn't a well defined guideline for barrel weight (not just in this match, but amongst manufacturers as well).

Sure is...you're allowed to use a heated indoor range (if available)...of course so is everyone else. :p

First results posted this month, woohoo!!

Gun: Ruger 10/22, target model K10/22-T
Optics: Leupold VX-II 3-9x33mm Rimfire EFR scope cranked up to 9x power
Distance: 50 yards
Position: prone using range bag for front rest
Ammo: SK rifle match

The match grade ammo definitely made a difference for me versus CCI. I shot 3 targets, the first two with CCI which weren't very impressive. I then switched to SK's match ammo and by my calculations this is a 38, unless the shot has to be all the way in the black. The name of this month's target (inside/out) had me wondering about the scoring.

When I approached the target and saw I missed the third one by a wide margin, a scene from Shooter went through my mind. There was a cop named Timmons who was supposed to execute Bobby Lee Swagger right after the arch bishop was shot. When I saw the huge miss (considering I'm using a scope) I said to myself, "How could you f'ing miss!?!?!"

This was shot outside, conditions were cloudy and 60 degrees. I really wanted to try without using a rest, just elbow support or sling but it's getting dark mighty early these days.

Well done, Pocket Rocket! Your score is correct, you needn't have the shot completely in the black except to get the 5 bonus points for all 3 small ones. Thanks for getting us under way.

:)

Got to get out and shoot today , before the weather rolled in . Was oh so close to acing this one , but ' Choked in the Open Net ' on the last shot . No excuses , just yanked the last pull cause I thought I was gonna clean it . I scored it as a 40 with the one miss and no bonus . Used the wifes Savage BTV at 50 , front bag , with a Wallyworld Centerpoint 4-16 , so I think I'm Target Class Scoped 50 . Thanks for letting me play and I'll try this one again , was fun till the very last round :banghead:

...so I think I'm Target Class Scoped 50
That's it; and while you may not have aced it (after all that is just an excuse to go shooting again ;)), that is still some fine shooting there. Thanks for joining us, 67rschev.

:)

Nice job
Dont know when I'll get to the range. Windy and Temps have been in the twentys and lower for two weeks.:banghead:
I hate winter

I'm right there with ya, Orlando...I'm a good bit further south than you but it hasn't gotten out of the 30s here in the past couple days...and the wind is a killer. I really want to head out...until I open the door.

:)

Well, those 5 bonus point certainly eluded me. This is a really fun but difficult target. I've been luck that it's been really calm the last few weeks at the range. I'd complain about the cold, but I don't think I have a leg to stand on. Rifle's the same as last time:

Savage Mark II
Bushnell 3-9x32mm
Shooting off a Harris Bipod
Wolf Match ammo
at 50 yards

and here's the target:

I'm going to need help scoring it. I think it's a 40, I think I missed the bottom left dot but hit the one above it, but I'll be happy with what ever you guys decide.

7 degrees here this morning, dont you dare complain about your temps in CA :)
Nice shooting

Lol...I mean burr...

Great shooting, Jon. You definitely got the left 4pt. dot, but I can't really tell if you hit the bottom left...I want to say yes, but I can't tell for certain. I will go with what you (or anyone else that wants to chime in) say on that one.

:)

Jon & Mav - I certainly don't see any white space between the black dot and the bullet hole, so I'd say there is a good chance you cut into the black. As Mav said, Jon, you're in the best position to judge. Even if you just nicked it, you can count it.

Either way, good shooting.
