New to this site... found it yesterday and was it oh so nice to monitor the senate from my laptop at work... All here do a great job. Caught some of boxer and fienstein and it always amazes me how those two pro choice senators reference the killing of children when they discuss firearms. It's to the point that I get physically sick even hearing thier voices. By the way,,,, I did pass on my compliments to Sen. Craigs office yesterday, and they confirmed He will do his best to insure that the final bill is CLEAN.. I sure hope so

Any word from the folks monitoring this on the night shift?

They didn't come back in after we went to sleep and try to slip any back door deals in did they?

as it takes one of our most doggedly determined and ardent supporters off the floor, away from where he can argue for us.
a) How so?

b) He has to shut up and say nothing even though this is his bill?

c) Is this some kind of ploy?

I was sitting here wondering if Boxer bought stock in a company that manufactures the gun locks. Be a quick way to make some $ if it passes the house and gets signed into law.....

Looking at the Congressional Record from last night, it looks like two amendments will be debated today, two on Monday and then a vote on these four amendments and the gunshow background check and AWB renewal on Tuesday...

"Mr. CRAIG. Mr. President, we have worked a long day and through what this time last night was appearing to be a very complicated unanimous consent. But I think it flowed well today. All of our colleagues worked hard, and we have been able to meet all but one vote we had on that unanimous consent.

It is my understanding that it is possible Senator Bingaman will offer his amendment in the morning.

Mr. REID. Mr. President, if my friend will yield, on our side, Senator Dayton will be here in the morning to offer his amendment. Following that, Senator Levin will offer an amendment. Senator Bingaman wishes to offer his amendment on Monday.

I also say to my friend that Senator Reed has told me he will come tomorrow or Monday to start laying the groundwork for his amendment and the amendment with Senator Feinstein. The votes on those amendments will occur Tuesday morning. When they get the floor, they can talk about their amendments either tomorrow or Monday."

Jaayyzzuuuss....Is McCain the Republican Teddaay Kennedaaay? He keeps ranting about something that sounds inconsequential.

Is the Senate always like this? Suddenly the Washington Post is the best source of info for stuff? I thought these people were paid to make rational reasoned decisions based on facts, not on articles and editorials.:scrutiny:

Oh wait, Feinswine is a senator. Ooops.

Does anybody know what Levin plans to unleash? He's from my home state but this is the first I've heard about it.

Oh, and don't blame me for whatever he does -- I voted for Rocky!

Hey, I missed a big chunk of yesterday, There was somthing about "a call to arms" does anyone have more info or maybe a transcript?

Craig reiterating what this bill is about, and that the creators and supporters of the bill mean no disrespect to the victims of gun violence, but is targeted to bureaucrats looking for "deep pockets." Junk Lawsuits are "Predatory litigaton looking for a deep pocket *to hurt the gun industry*."

"Not a gun industry sheild. Does not protect them from criminal trials, and does not protect them from civil suits resulting from faulty products."

*Contents between the asterisks was paraphrased. I cant type that fast. :)

Edit: He is REALLY ripping the opponents of this legislation a new one. Its quite a site to behold.:D

I disagree with Craigs comment that Government run firearms manufacturers would not be high quality. My Springfield Garand is top notch. I do agree with him on everything else. Just had to throw in a pitch for reopening Springfield armory.

Reed comparing unsecured guns at a dealer to unsecured cars at a car lot.

Mr. Reed, common sense implies that the teenager who stole the car and hurt someone is responsible, not the dealer who didn't secure his cars.
:banghead:

Reed now arguing that lawsuits aren't bankrupting gun industry and cites money raised for legal defense funds and congrssional lobbying as evidence

Pointing out that FN has contract for many military weapons, points out H&K contract and says that the military isn't using domestic gun industry anyway so this doesn't affect national security

Craig came out and stated that there will be no votes on any amendments offered today.

Arguing over when amendments can be offered and voted on. Craig saying that if amendment wasn't in the original unanimous consent agreement, it isn't going to be voted on today.
