Rimfire Prove It *Reboot*?

If I'm the only entry for irons, I win, right? Even if it isn't rimfire?

Diana Stormrider (PCP air rifle)
Pretty stable rest, not quite sandbags though.
Stock front sight, but I took an old Daisy peep sight and cut the base out to allow room for the bolt. I did this specifically for this challenge.

This has shown me that I really can shoot with iron sights (as a villainous little ground squirrel found 2/3 of the way through my course of fire). It has also shown me that I really can't reasonably expect to test mechanical accuracy of different pellets without magnification.

I think I fiddled with the sight adjustment every target, and I probably shouldn't have. Oh well.

And right now my 82G has it's irons back on from a Boy Scout event.

Well, I gotta do something to stimulate some competition! This thread has been going for weeks without iron entries!

One thing I learned was that the thumbtacks used to affix the larger bulls need to not be in the center of the target.

Gone a week and finally caught up, hot as HE double hockey sticks, not too windy but a little breeze to give me something else to blame.

Used my 455 for a scoped rifle off a Harris bipod and a cheap rear bag that is leaking and my 540x for an iron sight rifle. They both generally shoot about the same with an edge to the old Remington, if I am using the right target for the sights installed in the 540. Guess I need the same targets on a larger piece of paper or a change of aperture as I was getting too much edge to properly center. Both with Aguila standard velocity 40 grain solids.

Note to self, rice is nice for a real light bag but you should keep it where stuff that likes rice can’t eat through your bag…

Nice shooting!!!

Winchester 74 and Winchester 55. I shot a target with the 74 with a scope and was quite proud of it until I remembered that 50 yards was the scope rule. I couldn't get on the 50 yard lane so I removed the scope and shot irons with it and the 55. Not great scores but fun and a chance to function check them before auction.

I am going to shoot my Marlin 39A pistol grip in open or maybe my Remington 510 TargetMaster, hmmm. I am going to be away for about a month, not sure I can get it done before I leave. Have not shot the 510 in a coon's age so perhaps it is time to dust it off. 3C

I took my Ruger American "youth" model out this evening; it has a cheap Simmons 3-9x scope. Didn't have the "approved" target and couldn't remember the rules so I just improvised. Did four 5-shot groups at 50 yards. The Federal Auto-Match, Eley Target and Aguila Super Extra groups weren't great, about 1.5" each. The Wolf Match group was better (pic below). This rifle likes Wolf! :D IMG_20220621_183840533.jpg

Nobody wants to use the suggested targets? I haven’t made it to the range yet but I thought it sounded like fun.
I think thats the first non-standard target posting....good shooting too!

I'm all set for Friday with approved targets.
Thing is it's not about group size but SCORE. Good groups but in the correct place.
yep! and the right place is bloody tiny for even at 14x lol.

Today ended up being a very worky range day, but I DID get to shoot the targets with both my .22 rifles....Didnt have the energy to do the pistols by the time I actually got to do "fun" shooting.
I didnt get any pictures of the set up unfortunately....didnt take ANY pictures at the range today actually.

both guns were shot off a plastic table 51yds from the target, wind was right to left and fairly blustery....made for interesting shooting, especially with the light Ranger.

The 457 was equiped with a noname harris style pod, Blackhound 4.5-14 scope, and was shooting some sort of federal bulk packaged ammo that Dell brought (he had my gun for the last week or so ), and no rear rest.

The Ranger was shot of a Spartan Jav bipod, and a bag at the rear, scopes a Burris Timberline 4.5-14, ammo was Aquila interceptors.

No idea what happened with the third group.

Ranger
First group was shot holding loose, after that I held it tighter and groups tightened up.
