What is the one gun in your collection that you would most trust your life to . For me its a Glock 21sf. I was thinking just home defense or ccw but you can do war scenarios if youd like for a rifle or shotgun.

Aside from the rimfires, I'd trust any of mine.

War scenarios for a rifle or shotgun? I use my AR15 for home defense...

A .357 S&W revolver. Just grab it and fire. I worked a few years in law enforcement and unfortunately I learned how reliable a revolver is in pressure situations.

Handgun - +1 on the G21SF...I carry one every day.
Rifle - BCM M4 type AR with Aimpoint Comp C3
Shotgun - Vang Comp Remington 870P 12 gauge

Just my .02,
LeonCarr

"It depends" is usually the right answer to almost any question posed with so few qualifiers.

A reliable .357 revolver that you shoot-well might be the best do-all compromise for a "most-threats" solution that can be carried-always... ?

Where I live, a 100 yard walk to the end of the driveway is more likely to encounter a rabid four-legger than a nefarious two-legger, and I'm not going to carry a long-gun to get the mail.

I would take a Glock 19 or 17 over anything else available.

I love 1911s and revolvers, but have had jams with my 1911s from time to time, and have had revolvers lock up on me to the point that they could not be cleared in the field and had to be taken apart.

You can say what you want about Glocks, they certainly are not perfect, but the 9mm Glocky are in my opinion the least likely pistols to jam or stop on you.

Normally if a firearm isn't reliable enough to trust my life on... I'll get rid of it. Out of a sizable collection I can only think of a small handful I wouldn't trust my life on.

^^ This (minus the "sizeable" part) :).
If I own it, I either carry it or shoot it regularly....and if it's on my hip or in my safe, I trust it implicitly.

Anything that I have in my hand, that shoots and hits intended target and does what it's supposed to do, like stop the threat.

well I dont know about the rest of you but for me , whatever gun Im carrying at that particular moment , and yes I mean every one of MY guns I TRUST MY LIFE TOO!

The better question for me would be which guns I own that I wouldn't trust my life to.

Some of the guns I trust are,
all S&W revolvers,
Kimbers,
Makarovs,
AR rifles and .223 pistols,
all bolt action rifles,
M1 Garands,
most Berettas
CZ pistols,
most Rugers,
American Tactical C92,
and a lot more.

Smith & Wesson revolvers [.38 caliber to .45 caliber] excluding the 460/500
West German SIG-SAUER .45 ACP P220A
West German SIG-SAUER 9mm P228
Remington 12 gauge "Marine Magnum"
Colt and Rock River AR's

Add: Les Baer 5" Thunder Ranch Special in .45 ACP
Smith & Wesson SW 1911 5" .45 ACP [product code #108282]

The OP asked, "what one gun"? That would be option #2, the West German SIG-SAUER
.45 ACP P220A~!

I don't own anything that I can't trust to work when needed. That said I do have guns that I prefer over others and I've chosen those for duty (I'm a LEO who has to provide his own guns) and carry weapons. Of all the guns I own, the two that I keep readily available at home are my duty pistol, a S&W 1911 9mm Pro Series, and a Ruger PC9 9mm carbine.

I carry a full size 1911 and trust it perfectly. I also trust my XD40s when I carry them. I do carry my wife's LCP from time to time, and while I know it is a perfectly capable firearm I feel a little strange while carrying it and hesitate using it as my primary gun.

Aside from my rimfires. . . Any of mine but my s12 and witness 10mm. Both are "new" and I haven't put enough time in on 'em yet to be sure they're 100%

It really doesn't help that the s12 is in pieces on my livingroom table.

I believe that they original question was "what one gun would you trust your life to?" My choice would be my Glock 19, the combination of good size for concealed carry, yet a serious fighting handgun with good capacity and as trustworthy as your old hound dog. I'd go to war with it any day. :)

I have enough handguns with which I've qualified, trained & practiced that I could carry a different one each day of the week and not carry the same one twice in more than a month. The makes, models and calibers vary.

I have "trusted" all of them to serve as defensive weapons, and I'd do so again.

I have no desire to own firearms, especially handguns I've bought to use as dedicated defensive weapons, that I don't "trust" to reliably function and operate.

I've traded or sold off handguns in the past which I didn't deem reliable enough to be trustworthy as dedicated defensive weapons (which includes those that couldn't be made sufficiently reliable).

I have just aquired a Ruger SR9c.I've shot a couple hundred
rounds through it.Not one flaw and more accurate than I am.
I think it to be a good choice, however it really does depend
on the circumstances.A 12 gauge tactacal with 00 Buck can do
some major damage to a home intruder.

I don't own a lot of guns, what guns I do own are reliable. Like others have mentioned, any guns that are not reliable, I no longer own. There are two things that I like in guns. Reliability and accuracy.

If someone is standing ten feet away from me, I don't really need to be too concerned with accuracy, but I sure as heck want the thing in my hand(s) to be RELIABLE! That goes for every shot necessary to save my life or the lives of anyone around me.

To answer the question, I would trust any of my rifles, pistols or shotguns.

I trust all my guns in a functionality aspect! (with my life) if needed in a given life on the line scenario......

With that said I am emotionally attached to a couple of them....

My Ranger .22 Clip fed Bolt Action...( My First From Dad)
My Marlin 30-30 (First Deer Rifle - First 8 Point)
My Rem 700 30-06 (Given to Me by a close friend..it was his Fathers who was a fellow hunter..He gave it to me after his Father Died and said He would want you to have this!)
My Stevens 20 Guage (My Grandfathers Squirrel Gun)
My Mauser .22 Single Shot Bolt (My Great Grandfathers..It seen War and I seen it keep crows out of the corn when I was very young...thats the memory I have of him..I was prob 7 when he died)

There are a few more, but my point is I trust all my guns with my life if needed in a life scenario....

But I have those that are my life....they are my lineage and in them a legacy I hope to pass on as well as they were passed on.....:)
