Too many guns

Times got tough about 5 years ago. A lot went by the wayside then. All my prized shotguns were sold. Have bought a couple handguns and sold a few.
I miss a couple of the shotguns. The few rifles and handguns, not so much. I really don't want to leave a large headache for my wife in the event of my.......
I still have enough to be content.

When guys say that they found a popular milsurp for $650, are we to Assume that it was within the last few years?
I suppose it depends on the person. For myself the answer is yes. A lot depends on where you buy the gun, when, and circumstance. It doesn't often happen for me, but sometimes you just get lucky.

I just bought my 10th handgun, M&P 9mm display model for $299 shipped. I'm telling myself that I'm done and it needs to stick. After accumulating 4 AR-15's, I'm telling myself I'm done there too.

If the other bills get paid and money is saved, there can only be too many IF:

people who inherit guns from your sudden demise are really exploited, with the guns sold at approx half of their market value, or less.

Good Luck with that!

Got both gun safes overflowing; got some guns I haven't messed with in years; and now I'm looking for a nice 12 ga. O/U for sporting clays and trap. Just retired last year and have come to the realization that it's time to thin things out a bit. Now it's time to decide what to sell, and how much is it worth? and a whole bunch of other questions. Other than buying another shotgun if I purchase any more guns they may be handguns because they take up a lot less space.

I dunno about too many guns, but we definitely can have too many "too many guns" threads.....

Pardon my cynicism, but it seems that aside from a few shills, these threads are nothing but (not so) subtly bragging about collections.

I had to sell a few guns that did,nt receive enough love to pay for a BigHorn Armery model 90 a lever action that shoots 45colt 454casul and 460S&W A sort of one gun for all needs .
A 410bolt action a 16gage double 2 12gage a few 22’s and a 17 hmr 22/357/45and454 revolvers and 2 autos in 22mag and 357.Oh and a 30/30 and a 30/06.
I am going to try very hard to pair it down to enough guns, but nobody answered the post with how many did they.
I do have to many long bows.

The first time my niece and nephew visited my new house, they made a game of trying to find all my guns. I think a few will go to them in a couple years. They have been taught gun safety but are too young to do anything but supervised hunting.

There's no such thing as "too many guns". (Unless you're a grabber)

Well, at something over 200 combined of all types, I find myself "at least" 25 or 30 short of what I still want!
I also have to buy another big 2 door safe! Just have to find another old surplus one. Since they are hard to find I'd even buy one out of state and have it shipped to me.
Sarge

My gun collection doubled basically overnight, as an uncle passed, and unbeknownst to me until then, left me his guns, ammo, and reloading supplies, but even having 25 or guns, some of which I haven't even fired yet, there are still a few guns I'd like to have, or at the very least, calibers I'd like to play with a bit. Just bought another gun cabinet, this one with a supposed capacity of 22, and along with the 14 gun one I own already, I see no reason not to full them as fiances and time allow. I have two nephews who are almost as much into guns as I am, and I have little doubt that my collection will live on long after I'm passed, and be put to good use......Yeah, its a bit selfish, but I DO use the justification that any guns I purchase will be eventual "gifts" to them in some fashion.

Sometimes I say I don't have enough room for everything....guns, reloading stuff, gun cases, etc., but never say I have too much or too many. That would be blasphemy.

No ....

... just ...

.........No......

(When a post has run 5 pages, there's nothing new to say, but I kept seeing the title & was compelled to answer!)

Soooo....is that such a bad thing? We like to brag about our collections! Mine consists of about 80 pieces of the worst garbage imaginable. the whole damn pile of you know what is probably worth a couple hundred bucks at best....

What's in your wallet??????:D

I finally thinned the herd. Looking in the safe one day it occurred to me that most had not been fired since they had come into my care. There were (2) 20ga Winchester 101's, one of them in 98% condition, a SKB 600 12ga, several 22's of different Nationalities, a custom Mauser 22rf that was absolutely gorgeous, and 10 or 12 handguns that had never had a cartridge in their chambers while I had them. Then there were the 6 or 7 high powered rifles that never got shot. I had one that I always turned to when it was time to gather meat. The others just took up space. They are all gone.

Now I still have all of my favorites that I love to shoot and hunt with and a new truck.:D

Virtually every reply in these threads will inevitably be some variation/combination of:

-You can never have too many guns

-When you run out of room/When the floor is ready to collapse

-I have this many safes, and they're overflowing

-Yes, but I'm still adding to the collection

-I had to downsize because blah blah

What's in your wallet??????:D

Aside from me, who cares?

Yes.

I sold off a BUNCH of guns a few years ago. I went through all the rifles I never used, a bunch of pistols that haven't seen the light of day in a LONG time, and a few so-called collectibles that I have zero use for. I'm a shooter, not a collector, and if it isn't one I will shoot, defend, carry, compete, or hunt with...it went buh bye.
