What have you done in the reloading room today

Deprimed today's range session of 6x45. I had loaded ten rounds of 24.3 grains of aa-2015 behinds a 68 Barnes matchburner and it did better that the 23.5 load I had tested last time. This was at 200 yards vise 100 so I was quite happy. Living inside the 9 ring is fun times. My buddy was continuing on his 30-06 load workup and when he shot it, he said it was boring. We needed moving targets for stimulation 🤣. Anyway my entire cashe of cases is in the wet tumbler getting clean. Think I have 200ish and now they are all fire formed......

I’m sitting at my bench trying to get up some ambition. This week has been a killer! I’m considering options for 270 win again… I’m thinking about adding one to the stable for nostalgia…
ETA: my Dads ol elcheapo savage does ok with the 140 gr SST. I’m thinking of possibly doing a Bergara. And I’m eying the Sierra TGK as well as the ELD-X. Of course, the old fashioned lead tip from Sierra is a very valid option. I’ve had my share of white tail “bang-flops” from them.

I hear that. I have had an exhausting week. Today was especially taxing. I was going to head to the bench tonight to reload some 38 spl. I just don't have the ambition. My bed is calling me. Not my recliner. My bed. Yep. Toes-Up at 9 PM. There was a time when that would have seemed ridiculous.

Your post reminded me I need to put one of my retired Chromebooks at my bench, seeing that it looked like you posted while sitting at your bench. I could use a Chromebook there for reference and forums.

It's hard to make a bad choice in .270 bullets.... other than trying to turn the rifle into something it isn't, by using too hard/too long bullets. For the past 30 years I've used the same Hornady 150 grain Interlock Spirepoint with 59.0 grains of H-4831, to take a small menagerie of game from dik-dik to wild boar to red stag.

The .270 is favorite.

Have you tried and copper bullets? The 270 seems to have plenty of speed that they would be a good fit. I can't see how 257 Weatherby people use anything else...
Beautiful bull.....

It's Mulch Morning here. Perfect cool morning for that. I do not like spreading mulch, but it has to be done. I plan on having everything complete by 2 PM and then finally getting out to the bench to reload some 38 Special that has been eluding me this week.

I also have to re-arrange my bench to make room for a small 11" Chromebook for reference and forums. That's going to require some thinking. Space is starting to get tight on the bench.

Have a great Friday gents.

I keep pondering a 243 for the 80ttsx. I don't currently have a platform I consider ideal for copper. 223 has the speed but I'm not hunting with a 50 or 55.
I am very impressed with the alloy that Hornady is using in their CX. I personally think it rivals about anything else monolithic in its class. I haven’t taken a deer with it yet, just because the opportunity hasn’t presented itself. But I have several friends that have. Impressed for sure!

Mulch. One of my favorite subjects.

Around here, shredded hardwood mulch is the primary mulch used. Much, if not most, of it comes from local oaks and hickories. Many of our oaks in the mid-Atlantic are dying from various diseases.

So the cycle is like this...take down a diseased tree, truck it to some lot, shred its bark and small limbs, throw in some artificial stain, spread it under healthy trees, then in a couple years, cut that tree down cause it's now diseased.

Regardless, lots of bad spores & other bad things in mulch--wear a mask. I know you won't, but think about it.

Mulch...nature's FCD.

Coffee break here. Mulch dumped. Now the hard part. Spreading and weeding.

I understand your point. About 5 years ago I spread pine bark mulch and one of my Blue Spruce trees got the dreaded Rhizosphaera needle cast . A nasty disease, also known as "Needle Drop". Only a few antifungal sprays cure it and I was too late with this knowledge to save the tree. Now I spray my trees with Ortho Shrub and Garden disease that contains chlorothalonil. One of the few antifungal sprays that actually stops the fungus in its tracks.

OK, back to work. Thanks for the heads-up.

When I had a .270 Win[Sako Finnbear], my load mirrored yours. Always worked. Hard to beat 150gr Hornady Interlock and H-4831.

Thank you for the info.

I have 1K Star 158gr .357 JHP someplace in the garage LOL.
My lone .357 is a revolver and I've only shot one deer with it.
And where I shot it any bullet would have worked.
Used Hornady Leverevolution 140gr. Gun loves em.
But proly not enough V to get em to expand.
