What have you done in the reloading room today

I'm not sure why I like .25-06 so much; maybe it's because I can sometimes get ragged one-hole groups at 100m. Trying some new loads today, 100g SMK with H-4350 and RL-22. Might make for a good Christmas Day shoot :)

Fellow 25-06 enjoyer here, is yours a standard twist barrel? I had mine custom made with a 1-7.5 twist for shooting the new 130gr class bullets and I'm working on making loads to test out. I have a bunch of 117/120 grain soft point bullets as well. How do you like the 100gr SMKs?

What did I do in the reloading room? I put away everything I got out a few pieces at a time for the last week. Times and priorities are changing.

I have a heavy barrel Savage 110; I think the twist is 1:10. I have loaded with bullets anywhere from 75 to 117g and can get 1 MOA or better with any of them. The 100 SMKs have consistently been the best, it would be interesting to see how they do out of a faster twist barrel :)

I hope fun and exciting things are in your future plans!

I have been stacking more "stuff" on my bench lately.
I bought some wood furniture to replace a plastic M1A stock.
It needed a little bit of finishing, but it's now where it belongs.

Merry Christmas GeoDude!

Thank you, sir! 🎅

It looks like we are finally getting a shed for the sewing machine cabinets and other woodworking projects crowding the store room. After Christmas we will get busy and the reloading stuff will all need to move - a couple of times - but in the end it will be much better. That means not much reloading until later next month but that’s fine. I’m in no hurry.

VERY NICE.....!
I also save those same plastic containers with lids................ (the white and orange ones)

Same here,

I use them for doing Hitek coating, either shaking or cleaning bullets with acetone. They fit 3lbs of casts easily and I always seem to have some around 🤔.

Cast about 15lbs of NOE 360-182-WFN-U2 PB solids today. Dropping 184.5gr +/- .5gr on average.
Going after 10lbs more tomorrow after food prep and chores for the coming week.

Pulled 394 9mm bullets out of bad cases. That sucked. Currently sitting here staring at the bench because I don’t wanna go do Santas job again for the 23rd consecutive year. He’s one lazy sob

So last night I couldn't find the shell holder used with my Hornaday case trimmer, which I use as a handle while annealing by hand... because I'm obviously a guy with a new lathe so I'll just drill out this shell holder that fits, but the center hole is to small.... well, this is definitely a case of just because you can doesn't mean you should.... I got that hole in there and it works but I won't be doing it again..... pushed up a bur on the inside that required more effort to fix than it was worth. Gotta try everything once just to know why it's a bad idea..... they are also very hard

I loaded 1000 9mm target loads because my son and grand kids want to goto the shooting range this week and I will have to supply the ammunition.
I'll take 500 rounds with me, that will have to be enough.

I take my 45-70 so when they just can't get enough, they choose to quit on their own accord... 🤣 feel free to shoot as much as you want...

pulling that many bullets with an impact puller is enough hammering to build a deck or put on a new roof!

Don't for get to recover the primers. Just use them for non-critical application and you will be fine. I have yet to have a primer fail not fire after reinstalling. Just make sure the anvil stays in place.

I just pull the decaping pin and leave primers in place if at all possible... I don't know what bad cases are. Neck tension????

I hope you used a boring bar! You can use the same tool to take off the burr.

I ran lathes, horizontal and vertical mills for a little better than a decade. Good pay but dangerous. Be careful.

Not much today, as it's Christmas. Wife and I are heading out to the desert for some plinking shortly. For a little Asian gal, she sure likes shooting my .45 Colt.
This was two weeks ago, same for today. Merry Christmas folks! thumbnail.jpg

I had a first yesterday, I was resizing some 44 magnum brass and had a 45 colt piece mixed in with them.
When something feels different, stop and see why.

My wife is 5 feet tall with a small build. She likes shooting my 44Mag and she's good with it. She hasn't fired my 45 Colt yet.

In the reloading shop, it turns out my 7mm-08 wasn't long enough to require trimming. I primed 50 cases then fired up the Lee 4-20. I poured out 3-400 Lee 252-230 TC bullets.

Got stuff ready for taking shooting this afternoon at the family land/Grandma's house out in the sticks. Got my Remington 700 and all my 25-06 ammo I loaded plus some factory stuff and a few targets and a shooting bipod thing that is actually really nice to have. I will update results of groups with the 25-06 later in the day. Will also test out the 185gr 45 Auto loads I made for sound level comparison. Bringing the extended threaded barrel for the new Glock 21 to test Velocity as well.

Weighed out 5 muzzleloader charges. Every time I use that “portable” scale, I’m reminded why I don’t like it and bought another one.

The girlfriend watched me load some 338WM for a ladder a couple months ago. While watching me meticulously measure the powder she decided she wanted me to be able to do it quicker since I leave for Africa and have limited time to develop the load in the spring when I can get into the range. I just got the gun back from the smith. IMG_0336.jpeg Merry Christmas to me.
