I decap before I wet clean, because shiny primer pockets makes me happy and I'm not scraping them. Bad enough dealing with crimped pockets....My Thoughts Exactly!
Someone call me?sorry, I dont wet tumble...... JmacD will have to be our resident Ultra Shiny Brass guy...

I do like shiny brass and clean primer pockets! Chrome may not get you home, but, if everything else is done right, it gives much more “presence” when ya get there. lol View attachment 1188158
Added these to the shelf as well as 100 starline 45 auto brass. Did some organizing in the reloading room and on the bench(es). Put a “strap button” on a guitar on the bench. Have a load of odds and ends in the wet tumbler.
First, they get sorted by headstampYou’re going to chamfer all those cases, right?
Thats an impressive pile of empty boxes! How many did you use?
I would keep it right at 9gr but maybe a bit more powder will give you a better group?? Dad and I are happy if the subs cycle perfectly fine.Deprimed the .300 Blacky brass from my short range trip.
8.2gr of N110 and the Berry's 220 SP cycled the gun, but didn't lock the bolt back, at 890fps. Everything cycled and locked the bolt back after that. I ended at 9.0gr at 990fps, and was pretty darn quiet and CLEAN! Very happy with how clean it was, especially after the SUPER dirty factory subs. Accuracy is about as good as I can do with a red dot for all charge weights. I'm shooting for somewhere between 1020-1050fps, and am guessing somewhere around 9.4-9.6gr is going to do that. I have enough brass prepped to work up to 10.0gr by .2gr increments, so that's what I'm going to do!
Later this evening when I sat down at the bench, I opened and played with what my wife got me for my birthday.... a bunch of stuff from Lee so now I can set my Pro 6000 up for .223, a long with one of their new "stepped" 9mm powder through expanders. I'm like a kid in a candy store!
I stumbled onto autocomp when I couldn’t find anything else. It’s rapidly becoming my favorite 9mm powder!Autocomp shot nicely though so if it makes velocity it’s still in the running.
Same for 45 Auto.I stumbled onto autocomp when I couldn’t find anything else. It’s rapidly becoming my favorite 9mm powder!
Yup. The only negative is it’s a little blasty and gassy for a snubby .38Spl. It’s like my Great Uncle James.I stumbled onto autocomp when I couldn’t find anything else. It’s rapidly becoming my favorite 9mm powder!
Here’s a reason for clean brass inside and out…No, it’s actually not, but I thought of these posts as I observed this effect loading some 45acp.Someone call me?View attachment 1188156View attachment 1188157

I can definitely see that. With its gassy reputation, I’m surprised at the total lack of muzzle flash I had running it in a night class. I took some other for back up just in case, but I had nothing. One lady had some stuff for her 38spec her dad had loaded. WOW. I don’t recall the recipe, but her hubby was apologizing to her all over the place for not getting “her” loads done for her. LOUD and Flashy. Kinda like my great aunt R.Yup. The only negative is it’s a little blasty and gassy for a snubby .38Spl. It’s like my Great Uncle James.

I didn’t even get past the starting load with W231. Way too much flash. WST didn’t meet velocity until the maximum load so it’s out of the running too.
Reminds me of my father’s snubby (my grips). He got it as a gift from his “squad“ in the 70s on his 20th or 25th anniversary.I shot my ladders for the .38Spl 110gr Winchester Kinetic HE.
Used these:

Frame and hand guards.
There’s three more in the safe: .22RemJet 10” w/ a Swift scope, Super 14 .35Rem, and a Super 16 .223.
It’s going to take a while to finalize everything, including a night shoot for the flash test, but right now W244 and Ramshot Silhouette are the top contenders (pun intended) both at the mid-range loading. I didn’t even get past the starting load with W231. Way too much flash. WST didn’t meet velocity until the maximum load so it’s out of the running too. Autocomp I’m going to try again because the battery died on my Chrony and the “spare” was toast. Autocomp shot nicely though so if it makes velocity it’s still in the running.
That's 200 dollars worth of just bullets now . I wonder if your speer availability is better than mine. I've been picking up 30 cal 150s and 165s at 30 a box, cheapest thing going. No 6.5s on the shelf since I moved here.I'm curious to see what you think of those. I bought a tray for my 5.56mm test ladders, my initial load with them was actually opposite of what I expected... that is, greater SD. I'mma scratching my head over that one, but I'm still working on it.
That's one of the reasons I don't really like W231, and why I don't use it.
Yes, you will have to max the WST load, but that max load gives you a target-level velocity. WST is, after all, a very fast powder... faster than TiteGroup and W231, even.
Sized and prepped about 400 6.5ManBun cases. Turning that hand crank on the old Pacific trimmer is much easier with 6.5 brass than .30 brass... but I still got a blister.
