What is the best round ever?

I think the four you list would cover just about any purpose a gun can have. Discounting military uses, the 50BMG is a bit impractical for most folks, but a 22LR rifle, a 45ACP pistol or revolver and a 30-06 (or 308) rifle would cover a whole lotta gun stuffs.

I'd probably have to vote for the 22LR though... Think about how many '270 vs 280', '30-06 vs 308' and '45ACP vs 9mm' conversations have come and gone and the ole 22LR is still chugging along just fine. And as cheap and readily available as ammo is, I can't even imagine how many animal and human lives have been taken by this round.

Would you believe a 12 ga.? 2 3/4", 3", 3 1/2", mini or magnum...
Good for:
Clay pigeons, bunnies, quail, pheasant, duck, geese, deer, elk, bear, HD, war or police action...
Load it up or load it down, from lead dust to slugs, works in single shot, double barrel, pump or semi-auto, short or long barrel, rifled or smooth, bead, rifle sight or scoped. I forgot, bang sticks too.
Might not be a 250 yd pinpoint m.o.a. grouper... but it sure is versatile.
