What is your favorite carry gun? Why?

S&W 642. Reliability. Size. Weight. It's not the favorite from the safe, but it spends the least time there. It just fits best for CCW.

I usually choose between a Colt Combat Commander, a Colt Officers ACP or a Taurus 85UL depending on need for concealment or comfort.

MY favorite to carry??

MY favorite to carry?? On a family road trip: GLOCK 21 w/ 3 mags of 13 rounds of .45 acp, .25 cal. pocket derringer, Kershaw Black Out pocket knife, and my wife carries her 38 SPL undercover. We watch each others back, look out for our daughter. It's a crazy world out there!

When I travel by myself: GLOCK 21 w/ three mags of 13 rounds of 45 acp, AK 47 w/ 4 mags of 28 rounds each of 7.62X39, a recon Bowie Knife and my Trusty Kershaw, the best $50.00 I have spent on myself. Sharpe as a razor, handy, never runs out of ammo.

For around town: GLOCK 21 or either a S&W 686-1 .357 loaded w/ 5 rounds and two speeds loaders w/ 6 rounds each. My trusty Kershaw.

I live close to Durham NC. Very high gang population over there. Drive by and corner shooting and robberys everyday. When the sun goes down GREEPS come out from every 'ROCK'. Very big drug problem connected to the gangs.

I don't what to sound paranoid, I just want to return home at the end of the day.

Sig P239 SAS most of time but in summer (gets pretty humid in the low country) my S&W 340 PD, very light and ain't worried about recoil if I had to use it. Lot less energy that the BG would feel on the other end.;)

+1 for the Taurus 605. I had the hammer bobbed, and carry IWB. Light and dependable, hits where you point it every time.

MY favorite to carry??

S&W 642 in a Robert Mika pocket holster. This "rig" is light and easy to keep concealed. I'm a revolver kind of guy and this configuration just feels right for me.

On my belt it's my 3" 65-3 loaded with Federal
125gr 357mag hollowpoints,in my Desantis
pancake holster it hides very well.

In my right front pocket is my 642-2 loaded
with Blackhills 125gr 38spl +P's.

I carry a speed strip with 6 38spl's as spare
ammo,just in case.

Why do i carry these, because they are both
accurate with those loads, not too heavy and
i shoot them both quite well.

Taurus 455 Tracker revolver. Two inch barrel, five shot, .45acp loaded with 185+P CorBon DPX. Compact factory grip. Sure wish someone would make a nice wood grip for this gun!

Hmmmm, it depends on several factors; 1. Where am I going, 2. How am I going to get there, 3. What time of year it is (i.e. type of clothing I'm wearing), 4. What do I plan on doing when I get where I'm going (is shooting on my to do list, if so, what kind).
These are the basics I use in determining what I will carry TODAY, and tomorrow may be different depending on the answers to these questions. Having said that, I like everyone else, have my favorites. One is a S&W 637 Airweight .38+P, and my "go to" CCW gun is a Springfield Armory Ultra Compact 1911 .45ACP. I must admit, I periodically carry a Beretta 92 9mm. My wife also carries, and is very comfortable with any of these.
I have been a Concealed Carry Instructor for many years, and these are the basic factors I use in determining my choice of today. These questions have a myriad of answers, so it's not as easy as it sounds. Perhaps I make things a bit more complicated than they have to be, but my experience has shown "me", those few minutes to reach the proper conclusion could save my life, or yours!!!!! If it's at home, and I'm not, it's worthless if I need it.

Most common...

S&W M10; shortened barrel (just in front of extractor lug), round butt, no hammer spur. Handles +P ammo with ease. Fits into my 'fat-guy-loose-trousers' front pocket with or without shirttail or jacket.

Second choice is Colt Commander in 45 ACP. (Requires jacket.)

Depends.

Revolver (pocket carry): S&W 642 or 340
Revolver (belt carry): Ruger SP101

Pistol: Sig 239 9mm
I'm breaking in a Para-Ordnance 645 as an alternative. I really like the LDA trigger.

What? No .44 Special lovers? How bout an 80's vintage CA Bulldog-- 19 0z. unloaded, steel frame, and well, it's a .44! ;)
