What's Your Favorite S&W .357 Revolver?

Favorite .357 Magnum ?

My favorite "S&W" .357 Magnum would be the 4" SS Combat Magnum with Magna walnut grips.

As far as favorite .357, it is a toss up between the above and my Ruger Blackhawk 7 1/2" .357 with convertible 9 mm cylinder.

They each are in two totally different leagues.

The Model 28 and the Model 19 are a tie for me. I own examples of both and I like them equally.

I recently aquired a 627-5 Pro with a seriously smooth trigger. After my next range trip I might have a new favorite! Seen here with the rest of my N frames

tough call..

3" 66-4 with Spegel boot grips...sexy

PC 627-3 V-Comp...neat revolver

..and there are a few others i could call my fave, but the sweetest shooter of them all is this PC 686-4 "Light Hunter" (7 shot). With the slightly modified Ahrends grips it aims naturally and is a pleasure to shoot.

I like my 4" 13-2 a lot feels good in my hands. I'm liking my 66-8 the more I shoot it , not a looker or classic like the 13 though.

The only S&W 357 I own is a Model 19. I haven't shot it. My 357 shooters are a 6" Colt Trooper Mark III and a 3" Ruger GP-100. I very much like the Colt for shooting IF I am shooting 357 mags. I am generally more interested in 38 spls and then I bounce up to 41 mag rather than concentrating on 357 mag.

My first centerfire handgun was a 4" 19-4 that my dad did the paperwork on because I was 17 at the time back in 1981. It's still the one for me. People badmouth the Bangor Punta era guns but this one is a gem. The bluing is deep and rich, and the trigger is as smooth as I have ever felt. I still have the receipt somewhere: $235 including a box of ammo.

I also picked up a 2.5" 66 for $460 earlier this year. The rear sight blade was broken off so they came way down on the price. $15 and a call to S&W fixed that right up.

I wish this was a poll , but it is a hard decision between three . The 27 , 66 , and 686 . I have a 6" 686 that I really like . But if I was going to pick my favorite it would be a 6" 27 and very close second a 4" 66 .

Model 28-2 4" barrel. Finish was worn off so I have it redone. Its a solid shooter. Bit big to carry but lots of fun to shoot.

The only S&W I have ( so far ) in .357 is a 27-2 from 1974-75 and it shoots like a dream.

I have owned and enjoyed many, many S&W revolvers. At the moment I have two, a 629-6 5" (Henry Bowman) and a 686-6 Plus 3". Both wear Jerry Miculek boot grips which my hand now requires due to some broken fingers. I think my favorite for sheer beauty was a 17-2 I had at one time and regretably sold, as I did with my second most favorite, my first gun, a 686 Plus with 4" bbl.

The Dan Wesson 15-2 it tough to beat. So many innovations in one amazing package. It's really hard to understand why such an engineering marvel is little more than a footnote in the history of modern double action revolvers. I mean, it had its day for sure, but there are still a lot of people who have never owned or shot one.

EDIT
I just realized that this was a Smith &Wesson specific question...in that case, I think my favorite 357 made by Dan Wesson's great grandfather's company is probably my 686-4.

I have a 19-4 6" that I bought knew. I shoot it now mostly in bowling pin and PPC matches. I have a 66-3 for walking around uses.

I have two that I like a lot.

The K frame 19-7 make a lighter concealed carry gun for long days. The 586-7 shoots like a laser and the porting does help negate muzzle flip. Take this to the range to amaze your pals if you let them shoot it.

Fired a bunch of them, own only one: Model 13-3, 3", round butt. Guess it would be my favorite, since I actually spent my money to own it.

Really like the 19, though, whether 2.5", 4", or 6". Would have any or all of them.

USSR, I've actually aquired both the 4" and the snub, through the graces of this boards trading post.
The 6" was a local aquisition
