"whats your shooting level?
i come on here and see people posting pictures of half inch groups at 100 yards
heck im lucky to have a 2-3 inch group at 100yards"
The question is very vague. Pistol? Rifle? From what position is the shooter shooting?
I've read some pretty far fetched accuracy claims on THR.
Well, with Bullseye 1911 45acp pistol at 50yds, one hand, I can hit the black 10 of 10 times most of the time, (Bullseye Slow Fire target) From 25yds I can shoot a pretty good score. High 90's most often. Same with rimfire pistol. @50' I haven't quite made master just yet.
I also shoot either of my Ruger 44mags at 100yds with iron sights at a 5" steel plate and usually hit it 5 of 6 times from a standing two hand position.
Iron sighted lever action rifle out to 200yds at an 8" steel plate, ting 8 of 10 times. Standing.
With scoped bolt action rifle the 8" plate at 200yds is not even a challenge.
From a bench I have a rimfire rifle that will shoot sub 1" groups at 50yds with me at the controls.
Lets see... I have several targets from 200yds that have groups of less than 2 1/2" -standing with a support, from hunting class rifles.
Sorry, I do have target pistols, but no real target rifles. Anyone saying that they can shoot moa at any distance off hand, is either lieing or is a competitive shooter. -So, I allow that it's very possible, but not probable. Most of the hunting class rifles are not capable of it. Target barrels are.. But most target rifles are shot from the bench, not off hand.
If that's what you're looking for, then maybe it would be better to reword the poll question.
If in deed you're looking at bench shooting your favorite hunting rifle at 100yds, then moa is what your goal is. And 3" groups is probably fair for most shooters. Someone that practices a bunch, has worked up the best load, has tuned the trigger to something less than factory 5 pounds with no pre-travel and creep, then less than 2" groups are quite atainable.
3" groups at 100yds is not acceptable for me.. Even from just my hunting rifles.
