I'd buy a Colt Commander before the others, trigger, pointability and it comfortably carries IWB.

Looks like the Glock 19 is easily winning. Makes sense. It is the first 9mm I would recommend to anyone for defensive purposes. It points very naturally, is just the right size and width; light weight for concealed carry, accurate, good value, very simple to field strip without tools, and mine has functioned 100% reliably, feeding it all kinds of factory rounds and reloads.

I have an Ed Brown Special Forces Carry and a Dan Wesson V-Bob so my vote is for the 1911. They are both excellent pistols but I use a SIG P239 as my CCW but am considering buying an SP2022 to try.

Other: Beretta Nano. 9mm single stack 6+1. very well made and small enough to disappear in a pants pocket. Zero issues. I have a Glock 19 and it was my EDC until I got the Nano. The G19 has been my duty weapon for some time now, and I felt it was the only pistol I needed for both on-duty and off-duty. Of course it's been 100% reliable and has several thousand rounds through it.
But the Nano's smaller and the trigger pull is, in my opinion, smoother.

I <heart> my Sig C3s, and have close to five thousand rounds through one so far without a single issue.

Beretta 92 Compact, because they fit my hand well and I am relatively accurate with one.

Something with a safety. So 1911 from your list (does the HK have a safety?).

I have several commander sized 1911s, a G19 and G23, and a P229 in .357Sig with a backup drop-in .40 bbl. I like them all. The 1911s feel best in my hand, the trigger is great on all those pistols, the glocks are simple, light and easy to self-modify. The G19 is great with 9mm being my preferred range ammo and can be very hot with +P+ loads. My P229 is an all steel 2002 non-railed model solid but not heavy and shoots like a dream. I like the .357Sig although the ammo is harder to find and >$$---it will annihilate whatever it hits but is very LOUD! All would be an excellent choice for self-defense.
