Which semi-auto pistol would you bet your life on out the box?

Glock would be far down my list.
Just last week a neighbor bought a new G19. Sure enough we had several jams in the first couple magazines. That's par for my experience with Glocks.
A few months ago a friend tried to give me a almost new G26. I really tried to like the gun but I gave it back to him. Best I can recall it jammed about 8 times out of about 200 rounds.
I haven't been around Glocks, either shooting them or others shooting them, that they they didn't jam.
I'm not bad mouthing the Glock, that's just been my experience with them.
I seriously doubt this! My Glock 19 never jammed once and was 100% reliable for me and has been 100% reliable for my son too.

XD45

Not a pretty gun, not a match pistol, but the thing just works.

Not prone to limp-wristing at all, unlike some semiautos out there. I don't have to overthink anything when I shoot it.

Any of the CZ's.

My personal favorites are the P-01 in 9mm and the 97B in .45ACP.

The P-01, by the way, is UN classed.

I understand the other manufacturers dropped out of the competition.

I wonder why?

Colt or Springfield Gov't 1911 in 45 ACP, Styer GB in 9mm, followed by a CZ-75B in pick a cal.

any

Glock or Sig..
They don't require any of that " Break-In period " B.S. !

You get what you pay for.
I certainly wouldn't bet my life on a Taurus product !

Dear " M2 Carbine ".....

I have never, ever heard,or seen a Glock,or Glocks have the problems that you described ! I'm not a Glock fan,i love Sigs, but i wouldn't hesitate buying one and trusting my life with one in any scenario ! Thousands of people own them and the police love them to death ! If a Glock pistol has that many problems ,then why not return it to the company and have them revamp it ?
I'm sure they would either fix the problems ,or replace the pistol with a new one !

I'm not particularly a fan for carrying Glocks but they are the AK's of auto pistols, so if I had to pick a pistol out of thin air before going to danger it would be the full size 10mm Glock.

I had a brand new Glock 19 that stovepiped all the time. I eventually sold it. My brother said his Glock 26 experienced the same stovepiping issue a few times while at the range one day. I also had an XD45 that had FTF problems for the first couple magazines, but was ok after that. I took my brand new Sig SP2022 to the range yesterday and had FTF problems for the first two magazines only, then it worked great.

I've owned 3 H&Ks (a black USP .40c, a stainless USP.40c, and a P2000sk 9mm), and all have been absolutely flawless from the very first shot. I don't know how H&K does it, but their quality control is seriously the best in the business. H&K engineers their pistols to work, plain and simple. Your chances of getting a lemon are probably less than with any other handgun brand out there. In other words, if I had to choose a pistol and trust my life to it right out of the box I'd have to go with H&K.

I wouldn't trust any pistol out of the box. I've seen a problem Glock (1) problem HPs, even a Ruger GP100 that bound up on the second trip out.

But if I had to bet, it would be on the Glock. I wouldn't be surprised if XDs were great too, though.

I have to say I have had three Glocks fail in my hands shooting, but any mechanical device will break/fail. I took my P01 right out of the box new, wiped off the exterior, and ran several mags through without a hitch. Other CZs I have cleaned first, but all ran without issues. I would have to say a P01 or PCR would be my choice, due to experiance.

Based on my personal experince and preference I would say Springfield XD. The one malfunction my XD had was my fault. I had fired (and reloaded) it so much my hand was tired and I limp wristed it.

Also, as much as I despise the grip angle, I have heared that Glocks are relatively reliable. ;)

For me it would be a Glock, any Glock.

believe will go bang everytime you pull the trigger.

I owned a Glock for about 1 month one time & it went click all the time but didn't go bang half the time. I tried several types of ammo in it but it only scrached the primer. I would try the round a few times then put it in my Ruger & they fired fine. I have never even shoot one after that. If it was laying beside a Highpoint I would take the Highpoint every time.

To answer the question I have had the best luck from Taurus. My favorite would be a Ruger though.

SIG P226 .40S&W, Glock G17, Beretta 92FS, FNP 40 and my carry pistol the CZ 75D PCR. If I had to load one out of the box without cleaning it, then the SIG P226 is my choice.
