Okay, here is the situation; you run into a gunshop during a riot or SHTF situation and you need a semi-auto pistol right now! Never mind that a gunshop would probably have much better guns to defend yourself with, this is just a mental exercise to see what semi-auto handgun is the most trusted. Maybe it is a gunshop that only sells semi-auto pistols.

You can take as much ammo and mags as you can carry but only one pistol and it has to be a semi-auto. There are looter and dangerous men all around so you need to grab a pistol and go. What do you trust will work with no fluff and buff and no break-in period?

The first one that I can get with ammo that works... Limited time to grab....

.357sig, 9mm, .45acp

If there are Glocks, that's what I grab, second would be a 1911 colt... with lots of mags, ammo, holster

I like this question.

My base selection order would be HK, then Sig, then Glock.

Unless 10mm is in the mix. Then a Glock 20 all the way.

SIG or H&K USP would be what I would look for and grab.

By the way, what is SHTF anyway???

There are way too many abbreviations in use on this forum.
:banghead:

Just grab 1? Yea right!

But to play by your rule, any 1 of these:
Berettas(92, Cougar), HK's, Sig Sauers, Glocks, FN/Browning Hi-Power.

FOA, IANAL.

IIRC, SHTF means s*** hits the fan, usually in a TEOTWAWKI senario, so best is to grab a HK USP, or a SIG. I wish I had a CCW or a CHL in CA, but tough luck I can only EDC a BM outside the house. Sucks, in CA no EBR, or SBR, though I'd also love a MBR such as a AK or AR. HK91 or HK PSG1 would be nice too. IME, I like to carry OWB over the IWB, never understood the SOB style. IMNSHO, load your EDC piece with JHP preferrably, but for full reliability, use FMJ. IMO, Be sure whatever you use, whether its JHP, JFP, SWC, LSWC, FMJ, LRN, SJ, SJHP, SP, TC, or WCUse what you shoot best, for me I love the .45 ACP, carried C1. For 9mm, the BHP would work well also. Also something with little MIM. Remember, train and BA/UU/R. DAO wouldn't matter much also since its easy to use. Make sure to carry a gun thats reliable without any FTF,FTE, or FTRB. If you have someone that SWMBO, be sure she can help you defend also. A CQB rifle would help, or a SMG or SLR. Sight it in so that POA is POI. Dont you love the CONUS right to bear arms and HD. Otherwise, its BOHICA. So, be ready, dont arm yourself with something thats NIB or LNIB, make sure its reliable. Quietness is key, make sure not to ever LOL or ROFLMAO.

Of course, remember. TANSTAAFL.

And lastly, YMMV. UWC.

Sig and Sig only.

It's the only brand of semiauto pistol that's always been 100% reliable out-of-the-box (and beyond) for me. I've owned five of them.

Absolutely no Beretta's, Glocks or revolvers 'till a proper break-in period tells me they're good to go.

:)

My new Wilson CQB or my Kimber TLE II would be the ones I grab when at home and I hear a bump in the night.

While out and about, my modified Springfield Champion is my "trust my life to" weapon of choice and if something were to happen to it, my BUG, a Taurus PT-145 will more than handle most situations.

albanian-This is a good question since it highlights what we think is always reliable. Good job!

Although there are many reliable brands after a breakin period, I would choose Glock if it had to be an out-of-the-box untried semi.

Good shootin'....

Carbon 15 pistol.

"By the way, what is SHTF anyway???"

That means when the midden hits the oselator

Personaly, I'd grab what I've already got, a remington 870 and several bandoliers of slugs, and a sig p220
