Who has the most "tactical" AR here?

While I was over in Iraq I saw a lot of guys blow a lot of money on the many tacticool accessories available. Once some of them had actually had to use their weapons there was a lot of discussion and changes to their configuration. I personally loved the sideways VFGs on M203s and the crappy leather shoulder holsters many of them had. Our Squad tended to set up our weapons for their intended purpose. I wish I could enter my M249 for this. Shorty assault barrel, MGO, collapsible CAR style stock, PEQ2 laser, 4 Rail forend w/bipod removed and VFG with spring loaded bipod inside it. All issued, no cool-guy purchases at all.
I would carry it in my secret second job as a Mall dining court commando but I can barely walk with my eight layers of ceramic plate armor and all the MACE I have duct-taped to my thigh in case im taken hostage by crazed children in the playplace.

Guitargod1985, I can't take any credit for these rifles. They both belong to my US Army son, and he picked all the bits and pieces, and did the camo job. I have to say that I was a bit concerned with him painting a rifle that he has about $3000 invested in. But, it is his, and it does look great.

hankdatank1362, the double fore grips are again my son's idea, but it is based on what he saw, and the people he worked with, while deployed to the sand box. His rifles are configured totally based on what was used by our guys. Yes, there is a bunch of stuff on them, but I have watched him (and was thoroughly impressed) use the ACOG and the tac lasers in some drills we participated in. He knows how to run his tools, and they work very well. Me, I got more basic rifles, but one does have some stuff on it, thanks to my son.

OK. Who makes a picatinny adapter for a Norelco Salad Shooter? I am totally doing that now.
I can see about procuring one for you. Our Department of Ordnance, Firearms & Undergarment Requisition (DOOFUS) may have a few left over. Just don't tell 'em you got it from me.

Boanerges57, first rule of Mall Security: don't talk about Mall Security! Our cover must not be compromised. I'm having enough trouble concealing smoke grenades under this Hickory Farms apron as it is...

DMK, the Garand is still the chest-pounding epitome of manly firearms. Plenty "tactical" enough for me :)

I'd like to hear from some more guys in the sandbox. What did you find absolutely necessary, what seemed extraneous, and what would you rather have had on the rifle?

When I was over in Iraq I started out with a M249 SAW, had the short barrel, paratrooper wire stock, bipod removed and grip pod vertical grip added.

When I got promoted I ditched the SAW and got an M4, but it was one with a 203 so my grip pod got tossed in my wall locker, I added rails, put on my 120 lumen surefire, and losed both sights for the 203, leaf and quadrent. our supply chain was messed up, we only got like 7 ACOGs for the entire company so i was stuck wth the irons.

If I get one of these added to my rifle, can I be prepared for...

DOOFUR? Don't you mean Undergarment Supply? :D

And btw, I learned that the original is the Ronco Salad Shooter, not the Norelco. Ronco is the LaRue of the field of salad projection devices, Norelco is the cheaper knock-off. If you need good distance, maximal volume and throughput and reliable return to zero, get a [strike]LaRue[/strike] Ronco.

I read the title of this post and knew it would be an interesting read/view :)

You guys sure have some pretty looking weapons. I hope to add some aftermarket upgrades to mine as well. Maybe an EOTech optic, fore-grip, better pistol grip, GOOD sling, and some minor bolt carrier maintenence.......
