My favorite handgun is a revolver,,,

My favorite handgun is a revolver,,,
Specifically the S&W Model 15 Combat Masterpiece.

stella-lr.jpg

Perhaps it's nostalgia but it's the first handgun I ever received formal training with,,,
In the USAF during the early 70'S I was a courier for a Tactical Fighter Wing Command Center.

Our Colonel was a bit of a cowboy,,,
He not only allowed but demanded we be armed,,,
So I was sent to the armorer and was issued one of those handguns.

Hardly anyone in the USAF got more than the basics of handgun usage,,,
I made friends with the range master and got lots of shooting time,,,
In my not-so-humble-opinion I got fairly good with that revolver.

Anyways, 40+ years later it's still my favorite handgun,,,
I shoot Stella (my model 15) quite regularly,,,
As well as her sister Morgana (Model 67),,,
And Didi (Model 18), their baby sister.

I own 39 handguns of several different varieties,,,
And I enjoy shooting each and every one of those guns,,,
But I always go back to the Combat Masterpieces when I get serious.

You guys will accuse me of Blasphemy,,,
But my least favorite pistol is the venerable 1911,,,
I owned one when I was a teenager and shot the heck out of it,,,
And in recent years I owned another for a short while before I sold it off.

I don't know what it is about old slab-side that doesn't twang my chimes,,,
Both of mine were reliable and reasonably accurate shooters,,,
They are great guns that I never developed any love for.

At heart I am a dyed in the wool revolver guy,,,

My favorite handgun (of the moment) is my SIG P238. Soft shooting and easy to carry concealed. Out afield I like my S&W 686. My least favorite handgun of all time is the Ruger LCP. I cannot grip it tight enough to prevent knuckle busting recoil, or promote anything close to accurate shooting even at the ranges it was designed for.

My favorite would be a S&W 686 revolver. Comfortable and reliable for me, they're just hard to beat. Least favorite would have to be those little single action derringer revolvers, just don't see a use for them at all.

Deringer ---- the ones with the 50# trigger? Mine is a 32 H&R/ 38 Sp, it's been fired about 20X in 5 years, not always by myself. Had to have it 'cause I didn't have one (know the feeling?) Favorite would be a tossup between the Browning 1911/22 Compact and the Kimber 22 conversion on the 1911.

My favorite, revolvers. Specifically a Smith 57 and Ruger BH. They are nostalgic and remind me if my father. Lots of good memories.

My personal least favorite: any in my stable that are unreliable. If not fixable, down the road they go.

My least favorite I don't own: I don't know.

One I'm Jonesing for right now?: P227, various 1911's, anything in 41 mag esp a marlin LTDSS

Favorite revolver: S&W 686+ Pro, 5" slab-sided 7 shooter

Favorite semi: too many great choices. I have a hardchromed LB SRP 1911 that is fantastic to shoot, a G30 that is way more fun than it ought to be, a G26 that is my EDC, a 22/45 with VQ internals that will kill squirrels all day for cheap, a G34 that wins matches, a Series 70 that I fit a match barrel to that nearly beats the SRP, and a host of others.

Least favorite that I have owned: Ruger LC9. Trigger was awful. Recoil was painful. Accuracy was OK, if you were patient enough with the trigger. Very slow follow-up shots. Sold, but not forgotten.

This is my favorite. My 1939 Registered Magnum which was the prize gun at Camp Perry that year. This was spec-ed out by the winner. I feel he made a good choice as the target was shot with 50 rounds at 15 yrds offhand.

This is my least favorite. I say that because I bought it to measure pressure with and have no real attachment to the gun. It is nice but I view it one step better than my hammer. It is just a tool to as a means to measure pressure some day with me.

I guess I would have to say that my Browning Hi-Power is my all time favorite. It's an older one that came out of the Israelii Military and I had it professionally restored. It is a great shooter, and I love the history of it.

Probably my least favorite is my S&W Chief's Special. Just because it is.

overall -- my 1998 Kimber Custom Stainless Gold Match 45 ACP

it was sold as being able to group 1.5" at 25 yards and it still does,
even after 55,000 rounds. i also lucked into a Kimber made 22 stainless
conversion which is bullseye accurate.

These would be our own handguns, yes?
Of all my 1911s, this is my favorite, a bone-stock Series 70:

My least favorite of all the handguns I own is probably a tie between the Ruger LC9 and the Beretta 3032 Tomcat; neither make me feel "the love" and they're just plain unergonomic and difficult to shoot.. The 1911 is my favorite because I simply feel fond of the platform that was my first service handgun, its classic looks and feel, the fact that it's a great shooter -- a tackdriver, in fact -- and has been 100% reliable without a single modification.
Of course, I have a favorite revolver too:

Of all my revolvers, this one is my shooter, and it's accurate, versatile and just plain beautiful.

Now those I like! Both are some of my very favorites!

Currently my favorite is my LCR-.357 but I am sure it will be replaced with my next purchase as it replaced my last favorite which replaced the one before that! LOL

Least favorite? I don't know about you guys but I haven't met a gun I didn't like!

Favorite revolver: tied between a Ruger Vaquero and a S&W Model 686.
Favorite semi-auto: tied between a Colt Combat Commander and a Browning Hi-Power.
Least favorite: don't have one.

The revolvers are easy to choose. The Vaquero is fun to shoot, being surprisingly accurate with just about any load I put through it. It also looks great with its polished stainless steel and Tru-Ivory grips. The Model 686 simply came with the best DA/SA trigger of any DA revolver I have ever tried.

The semi-autos are extremely reliable and possess great accuracy. Both guns have a great feel to them in my hand and are very natural and quick to bring on target. They also have phenomenal triggers and decent sights right out of the box.

Really can't even imagine having a gun that I didn't like in some way or another.

The handgun I committed to is the Glock 19 Gen 4. I now have 2.

It's convenient to own, I have a very easy time concealing it all year, and I can be fast & accurate with it at realistic defensive distances. I touched on convenience and size considerations first, because those are the two reasons why I specifically went to it despite being a Walther fanboy at heart.

My emotional favorites are: Walther PPQ, CZ 75B. I don't either, currently (traded away my PPQ after 5,500+ rounds fired).

Current favorite is still my S&W m41. It is actually hard to miss what you aim at with that pistol. If it was a beauty contest, I'd say my S&W m25.

Current least favorite is the 1911. I've had two and neither worked well. They can be beautiful, but I don't particularly care for the single stack grip, and I've not had one that runs consistently.

My favorite is definitely my Colt Gold Cup National Match 70 Series, which I shoot very consistently still, and I carried for my entire leo career, with the exception of one year with a S&W model 19 357.

My least favorite would be my Davis Derringer in .38 caliber, which I bought 20 years ago because I wanted one, and it sits in my gun vault after being shot about 6 times with light loads. I even made some maple grips for it quite a few years ago to dress it up a bit.

BTW I've got quite a few handguns, that I enjoy shooting all of them, but what can I say.

Favorite 686+ 4" - balance and accuracy.

Least favorite S&W 442 - the recoil and lack of accuracy - sold it.

Favorite is my customized CZ 97b SAO. Ahh.

Least, small lightweight revolvers. Had two, that was enough.

Not a fan of 1911's either. They're nice and all but watching people struggle with them in our matches really turned me off to the platform.

Well, I only own 4 handguns so its an easy decision for me.

My favorite is my 7.5" Ruger Blackhawk in .45 Colt. I love revolvers in general and single actions in particular.

My least favorite is my Taurus 709 Slim. I don't really dislike it but its not a fun shooter to me. I'm fairly accurate with it, but its not the one I reach for when I want to go to the range. It merely serves a purpose, that's all.

Favorite, ruger Vaquero. I've had seven over the years. Currently own three. Tough, accurate, smooth as butter.

Least favorite, blackhawk in 44 mag. Just hated that square trigger gaurd. Sold the gun after 9 rounds

Kimbers. Had 3 and none would work and stay working. Taurus auto's. Half worked that I owned. Half didn't.

My new favorite is the Bob Miller custom I got yesterday - I sent him a stock SA Mil-Spec and he turned into a tack driving thing of beauty. Still have to take pics!
