“I have a very strict gun control policy: if there's a gun around, I want to be in control of it.”

~Clint Eastwood

Not really a movie quote, but in "The Rundown" with Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson.. when he finally decides to use guns during his assault.. the shotgun he's holding says "Do not go gentle." Sweet...

"There are three reasons to own a gun. To protect yourself and your family, to hunt dangerous and delicious animals, and to keep the King of England out of your face."

Krusty the Clown

The Dalai Lama: "If someone has a gun and is trying to kill you, it would be reasonable to shoot back with your own gun."

I don't know if it is true or not, but I like it. (If someone can point me to a reliable source, I'd appreciate it.)

Too many to list in one sitting...

But I'll try:

Gun control means never having to say I missed you.

It's better to have a gun and not need it than it is to need a gun and not have it.

Guns don't kill people. It's the small chunk of copper-coated lead flying out the barrel at a high velocity and striking vital organs that will kill you.

If guns cause crime, mine must be broken.

Saying guns cause crime is like saying spoons cause Rosie O'Donnell to be fat.

They can take my gun when they pry it from my cold dead hands.

According to National Review Online, it is a genuine quote from an interview in the Seattle Times on 15 May 2001.

Among the many misdeeds of the British rule in India, history will look upon the act of depriving a whole nation of arms, as the blackest."
-Mahatma Gandhi

A fear of weapons is a sign of retarded sexual and emotional maturity. (General Introduction to Psychoanalysis, Sigmund Freud)

To my mind it is wholly irresponsible to go into the world incapable of preventing violence, injury, crime, and death. How feeble is the mindset to accept defenselessness. How unnatural. How cheap. How cowardly. How pathetic.

Don't hit at all if it is honorably possible to avoid hitting; but never hit soft!

I don't believe that people should be able to own guns.

I always remind myself of the proverbial "First Rule of Gunfighting:"

First, have a gun.

Useful advice about preparedness, whether you apply it to defense or other things in life.
