This one is open to any and EVERY 22 caliber rimfire rifle including 22 mag. This match is meant to be challenging and FUN. Hopefully it will get you out to the range and shooting your rifle.

You may enter with multiple rifles.

There are 2 targets to shoot, one you can shoot from any position you wish, the other is a 4-Position target. These are 2 separate classes and are scored separatly.

Leaderboard:

Target 1:

Scoring
Take THREE shots at each bull, for a total of 15 shots.

Corner Bulls:
3 points for each round in the bull. Total of 9 per.
1 point for each round in the colored area.

Center Bull, same as Corners except:
2 points for each round in the colored diamond outside the bull, 1 point for each round in the outer diamond.

10 extra points for all 3 rounds in a bull. The shots have to be CLEARLY FULLY inside the black to get the bonus, but only touching for the 3 points worth.
Max points = 9 * 5 = 45
Max bonus = 10 * 5 = 50
Max score = 45 + 50 = 95.

Range
25 yards for iron sights and non-magnified optics and red dots

50 yards for any Scope or Magnified sighting device.

Position Any

Now, the 4-position targets, these are attached at the bottom of this post. One is for the 25yd irons guys, and one is for the 50yd magnified guys.

Scoring:
3 shots will be fired at each silhouette. The scores are there allready, a miss counts for 0 points. A change to the rules on there, you are not required to shoot them with a timed limit either. (unless you really want to)

For both targets:

Additional Categories we can hammer out what is what if there is any doubt.
-Unlimited/Target Rifles
-Sporting Class Bolts and single shots
-Autoloaders
-Pumps
-Levers

When you are satisfied you've done your best email a picture of your target to me for scoring with the following information.

-Forum name or name you want posted in the results
-Rifle, make, model, vintage if known
-Sights
-Ammo
-Position

Congrats on the new Savage, Walter. It will be interesting to see how it shoots.
You did pretty darn good last month with your Marlin 60.
This is getting tougher...I gotta get out & practice.

Hey this looks like fun. Not sure my Magnum Research 22 mag will get here in time for me to shoot for Aug so I hope this may continue.

hapuna,
Welcome. The more,the merrier.
If your Magnum Research doesn't come in by the end of the month, there will be a shoot next month.
Maybe not the same targets, but a hole is a hole is a hole.
Will give you a chance to see what you are getting yourself into .
Its all in fun to help us hone our marksmanship skills.

Walter, glad the Savage is working well for you. We need someone that can give otrman a run for his money ;).
Its enlightening that your daughter took to it so quickly.
Heck, you ought to get the whole fam damily to shoot the match & post their targets. Might get their competitive juices flowing to see their targets "up in lights", as it were.

Walter, good to hear about the MKII, I hope to see some targets soon. (hint hint ;) :D)

hapuna, the matches will continue as long as people keep shooting, happy you are intrested.

I wanted to shoot this match, but decent.22 ammo is hard to find right now. All that I have on hand is CCI Blazer, which is ok for plinking, but really is mediocre for accuracy in my rifle. Anyone know of a source for Federal Automatch?

Does any position include sittin on a bench with bipod?

What are the 4 positions in the other group?

Following a few of these threads has shown me what I expected, there are some real shooters here at THR.

rodensouth,
Does any position include sittin on a bench with bipod?
Yes, for target #1.
Instructions for the position targets are at the bottom of the targets.
Any environmental support can be used for the magnified 50 yd. in each position.
Sling support only for the 25yd. with irons.
That's the one I shoot & it can be a challenge with irons.
I would like to see more guys try the position targets.
There have only been a couple of us that have shot those the last matches.
Otrman is the pacesetter; he has aced the 50 yd. positions (& probably will again).
If you ever plan to shoot an Appleseed event, this is similar to the scaled targets you would be shooting.

My target for the August Match:
22 LR Iron Sights / Peeps
25 Yards - Front & Rear Rest
Mossberg 146 B-A - about 60 years old
Remington Golden Bullet 550
Temp. 94 degrees & dead still!

If I did not make a mistake it appears I got 53 points on the target. Feel free to correct my score if I did make a mistake. :uhoh::)

hey g, i figured we were good to update since you approved the score and everything.

MATCH UPDATE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks guys! I get a bigger kick out of shooting that old Mossy & peeps than I do a scoped rifle. I do have another target to submit that I shot this morning with a TC Benchmark, 50 yards, Front & Rear Rests, 24x scope, Remington Golden 550. If I scored it correctly it was 63 points. There is 2 holes in one in target #4 in the black. Again if I made a mistake feel free to correct! Neither of my targets are going to hold very long anyway as I predict that some of you all are going to shoot a perfect score this month! Now get out there and make that prediction come true!

And the bar is higher! 63 the score is. :D Thats some really nice shooting there, and people say that remington GB sucks...(it is the most accurate ammo I have tried in my Savage, I just can't find it anymore! Works better than some match ammos)

The way the ammo situation is currently I shoot what I can find and the Rem. GB is it! It does jam a bunch out of my TC. I shot these 15 rounds loading one at a time due to jams deforming bullets and causing fliers. It still didn't get rid of all the fliers but it could have been worse .........LOL.

I'm working on it. Works been crazy as of late, 12-14 hr. days, 6 and 7 days a week. Been nice for the paychecks but kinda putting a damper on my range time. Hopefully this weekend.

Anyway can't get a link to work to save my life. But shot a 72 today on the Nosler target at 25 yds peep sights on a Remington 513 T, front rest, CCI Std Vel ammo.

Nice target & excellent shooting! Those Remington 513's are fine rifles. There is one fella from TX who shoots a perfect score with a 513 ever month on Rimfirecentral. The more I use peeps the more I admire a fine score shot with them.
