I own a Argentine Modelo 1927. One of these days I'll pick up a more modern version of the 1911, probably in something less than full size. Until then I have the Modelo 1927.
I carried an M1927 for years -- it's really a 1930s-era Colt made the way Colt used to make them.

I now have that gun dedicated to a Colt Service Ace conversion kit, and carry a Kimber.

Here are my two Springfields. One is a stock TRP, the other a GI that I customized.

What is the "J.M. Browning" model referred to? I voted Colt but I also have RIA and Norinco.

John Moses Browning... The maker/designer of the original 1911 and If I stand correct you'd know it as grampa's WWI/WWII handgun/1911!!!

BTW GUYS and AUTHORITIES I will make another poll with you other brands that you are mentioning so that you can vote for your others. thank you for letting me know about the other brands and keep posting them. BTW I do believe that Springfield and Springfield Armory are the same company as would Remington and Remington Rand. Please correct me guys if I am wrong. I want to get it right, first, before making the other poll just to be safe. Thank you.

Remington Rand made 1911s during WWII.

HISTORY - James H. Rand Jr. of Rand Kardex Bureau, acquired the Remington Typewriter Company in 1926 and formed Remington Rand in January 1927. They primarily manufactured typewriters and other office equipment. The Remington Typewriter Company was originally founded by E. Remington and Sons, predecessor of Remington Arms Company.

Remington Rand was awarded its first order on March 16th, 1942, for a total of 125,000 1911A1 pistols. The company had no experience building pistols at the time it was awarded the contract. Remington Rand formed a new division (Remington Rand "C" Division) to take charge of building the pistols. Remington Rand "C" Division converted a vacant plant into a modern pistol manufacturing facility. The plant was located on Dickerson street in Syracuse, N.Y and was once used for building typewriters.

Initially some manufacturing equipment was not available. This caused Remington Rand to acquire parts from other sources to complete the early pistols. They purchased barrels from High Standard, Colt, and Springfield Armory; Disconnectors from US&S; Grips safeties from Colt; and Slide stops from Colt and Springfield Armory (2,865 left over from WWI). Remington Rand "C" Division inherited much of the documentation, tooling, and machinery that originally was used by The Singer Manufacturing Co. in their Educational Order. Consequently some of the parts of the early pistols were made using Singer supplied tooling and fixtures. Careful examination of Early Remington Rand pistols will reveal striking similarities in some of the parts to Singer made parts such as the triggers and mainspring housings. The first 255 production pistols where accepted by ordinance inspectors in November of 1942.

Initial shipments appeared to perform satisfactorily, but subsequent tests performed by Ordnance Inspectors revealed serious problems with parts interchangeability. In March 1943 James Rand Jr., stopped production due to a high rate of Parts Interchangeability Test failures. Only after a change in management and a thorough review of the inspection and manufacturing operations was production finally resumed in May of 1943. When Remington Rand did resume production the line from under the "O" in "NO" in front of the serial number was removed (see IMAGE), this transition started at approximately 955,000 and either prefix can be seen as late as serial number 1,016,000. Throughout production Remington Rand aggressively attempted to innovate and improve the production of 1911A1 pistols. According to Charles Clawson books the ERRS (Experimental Remington Rand Series) pistols were created by Remington Rand for conducting experiments to improve their product. They were later presented to officials and employees of the company. By March of 1945 they where building the lowest price pistol in the war effort and quality was considered second to none. By the end of the war Remington Rand had produced over 875,000 pistols, almost as many as Colt (628,808) and Ithaca (335,467) combined.

I want one bad.

What the heck is a DLask & American Classic?

Isn't Kahr & Auto Ordnance the same company now?

I would have liked to see Dan Wesson, Detonics, Oly Arms/Safari Arms, Valtro, Nighthawk on the list.

Woooooh buddy hold your horses you apparently didn't read the first/Original Post. Don't get your nickers into a bundle. I am going to make another thread so that you guys can have the other choices. I am only making one other thread I know that there is probably 100 different company's out there that make a 1911 style pistol, but I can't CAN'T post them all, so you will have to be happy with what I can give.

Like I and other members have said as well, btw thank you for defending me guys, I can only post 16 Choice because VBB limits that many to me, you, and everyone else. So I am sorry. I shouldn't even have to apologize about this.

Listen I don't mind you POLITELY passing on your other brand names, but please EVERYONE stop whinning about it or getting mad at me. If you have a problem with the limitations then please speak with the MODS and ADMINS about it and see if they can change things for you. I am only a member just like you guys, and I really don't want this thread to get shut down. All I can do is post and politely ask that you guys try to be adult/civil about this.

THANK YOU,

USMCDK

I am going to make another thread so that you guys can have the other choices.

I wouldn't bother. They're limited to 16 choices, and you'll never please everybody. I think you did fine with this one.

Thank you Thernlund but I really would like to make the other one. After that people will just have to be happy with it. If not then Ireally don't care because I am only doing to do a majority thing here. It's just the democratic way to do it, and that's fine with me and the majority.

Anyways back on topic Let's see some more 1911 porn.

I hope you aren't talking about me. I don't have my panties in a bunch at all. I'm expressing my desire to see the M1911 makers that I am more familiar with.

I still don't have a clue what DLask guns are.

As for polls, you don't need to repeat this again, please. I agree that they will never satisfy everybody, nor do they really serve any purpose.

Here is a slightly modified (by me) Ultra CDP II - It is an awesome little gun

KimberCDPIIUltra-1.jpg

I have Colts, a Kimber (down from three), and Springfields. There are others I would love to have, but this is what I have now.

My little Britisher wife would tell you knickers are panties.

As far as those 1911s, I have a few. Here's one pile.

stacko1911s.gif

In a couple of days I'll go out to the garage and snap a pic of another stack.

Old 'Tuner has a whole cardboard box full of 'em!

Wait, you left out Dan Wesson, RIA, Baer, Ed Brown, and Nighthawk but put in American Classic, Dlask, Thompson Custom, and U.S.F.A.? I've never even heard of these brands. I know there's a limit on the number of entries but you left out some major ones. Maybe you should do a poll with price ranges.

running just about 2 handguns for every responder .. proof you can never have just one.

STI was missing from my stash.

If you don't mind doing some manual adding, you could just start a thread asking for folks to name the manufactures of thier 1911's?
