I think I am in heaven with all these 1911s showing. I am a 1911 groupie.
I have 4 Colts, one of them 79 years old now, a Kimber compact carry and a Wilson custom 5" match gun. After 100 years, it is still one of the finest styles ever designed. Thank you Mr. Browning!

Have had a Colt Service Model Ace for years. Won a Springfield Armory GI 1911 several years back. It's a OK piece but I prefer shooting my S&W 625.

Would a Sistema be considered a Colt, since it was made under their license? Wasn't sure what to put there.

Current fleet: Kimber Warrior, Kimber Pro TLE, Kimber Tactical Ultra II, Kimber SIS Ultra.

But I've owned Colts, S&W, Sistema Colt, SA and Remington Rand pistols in the past. Best I've ever owned was a Springfield Professional model (but the Warrior is a really close second...maybe even better when I consider it cost less than half what the SA Professional cost) that I had to sell when my wife was in nursing school.

Oh, yeah...had an Ed Brown "Special Forces" model and two Baer Thunder Ranch models. The EB just never shot as well as the Warrior and the two TR models were so tight, even after 800+ and 1000+ rounds through the two, respectively, that I couldn't cycle the slide by hand.

One of my favorites based just on how it felt in my hand was a Colt Gunsite pistol. Don't remember why I was silly enough to get rid of that one. Probably something else I felt I needed more at the time.

Two Colts (gone)
One Daly (gone)
Four Paras (one remains)
Four Kimbers (three remain) :)
One Springfield Armory (still here, but maybe not for long)

If its not a pony its a phony......

Nothing but Ponies.

Say what? You got rid of every one of those [brand which I shall not mention]? Dang, that was a pile of 'em, wasn't it?

I'll miss you in those other threads.

Well I am now up to 7.

The screw inside the trigger is the over-travel stop. The trigger design is (I believe) unique to Colts, though not the screw.

Any of the 1911's or 1911A1's built for the Military and generally marked "U.S. Property" are considered collectors items and really have no business in a poll with comercial pistols built on a long run-out patent, plus current guns are highly modified or enhanced compared to the original Browning design.

Assuming one has an original 1911 Govt. Model in any kind of decent shape, one might shoot it but never carry it....

That would be a state of opinion my friend, one which you are most welcome to have and duely noted. Thank you for your concern.

OK.....Sorry didn't mean to offend you, at least I know the rules now:rolleyes:

Seriously no offense but you need to read what this poll is asking again, the poll is asking what 1911 brands people own. Whether its a collectible, government property or whatever makes no difference in respect to what the OP is asking in this thread. Also I would no problem carrying my 64 year old 1911 as a defensive handgun, its not my first choice out of the handguns I own but its not because I'm afraid to carry it for any reason.

The point was Why would anyone risk using a handgun that's essentially not replacable & all to easy devaluated?

^ You're allowed multiple selections, so the poll isn't X% of 1911s owned are brand Y, but X% of those that own 1911s (and voted) own at least one of brand Y.
