If you had to rely on a new, "out of the box" auto...

Which semiauto handgun brand would you trust most "out of the box"?

Thanks sm, I've always liked your posts, seems like you always have lots of good, practical advice.

I check the Hi-Power forum fairly often, and it's rare to see anyone having any kind of problem with their pistols.

I also like chartreuse and white the best, although I usually use double willow leaf blades :).I like to fish almost as much as I like to shoot. Sometimes I pack fishing gear along with the guns and stop by the lake on the way home.Patrick

The HK USP45 Tactical.....it's been totally reliable and so accurate that it has forced me to be a better shooter.

Beretta, SIG, CZ, BHP. Any of those should work right out of the box.

All of them SHOULD, but I've never heard of one of those screwing up, let alone seen it.

i would have to say berreta

but i have to admit my sigma went strait out of the box and was fired about 600 times with no cleaning except a brush and swab trough the boar and cleaning up the feedramp thing

I mean, "right out of the box", or..

...

Is it ok if we do a quick inspection first, and add some of our own oil first?

If so, then it would be what I want next, a Sig P220 Carry.. and sell my P220 standard, as it has shot 1400 flawless rounds, but for some reason, I shoot far better with shorter sight radius guns..

MICHAEL T...Sorry about the bad luck. My Colt Series 80 has been running just fine for the past 18 years without failure...Right out ofthe box. And so have my other colts...

HK is incredibly well built, accurate enough, and relatively inexpensive for the quality you receive.

I must admit that my Glock is more reliable than my CZ....

My Glock has never experienced a failure of any kind, regardless of ammo.
I can't say the same for my CZ....it has failed to eject spent brass on a number of occasions, especially with Federal ammo.

HK, without a doubt. The only line of weapons that I have never, ever had a malfunction. Not one.

I think the reason Kimber is fairing so poorly is that teh brand experienced a spate of failures related to its MIM molding process a few years back. I'm sure these problems have been worked out and are non-issues now, but all the photos of broken Kimber parts that were posted back then scared many of us off of Kimber.

Most of the posters are picking guns other than Glock yet the silent majority's views are clear, Glock in a runaway. One away from 100. These are the numbers Hillary needs to stay in the race.

Glock.... or my GI Colt M1911A1

Okay... out of the box today, Glock.

Out of my personal collection, WWII issue Government M1911A1. I'm not convinced that a new M1911 (or clone) is quite as reliable:scrutiny:, but I know MINE is  since it's passed the longevity test of 65 years and still going.

Wow, as much of a fan as I am of the 1911, I'm actually surprised that Kimber made it on the board. Especially when options like HK and Glock are on there too. People would actually trust a Kimber over a Glock? :D

Note: Not a flame against Kimbers, I own one too. But it almost seems like people just chose what they own.

Given the number of cheap Glocks out there and the fact that Glock fanboys are notorious for putting out a call for shills in polls, I'm not surprised that Glock is perceived by so many to be the most reliable out of the box.

Add in the fact that Glocks price point makes it a very common first purchase for the budget minded folk who are less likely to own multiple firearms. Therefor, many of the non shill votes you see are from people who know nothing but Glock.

I recall there was one Glock fanboy I caught here an on the firing line who went by three different names so he could out number and shout down anyone opposed to Glocks. DENALI was on of the names I don't recall the other two.

Anytime there is a poll with Glock as an option I generally view it as worthless.

As one poster stated, most posters are actually picking some other firearm, but folks who don't post are mysteriously supporting Glock. Big shocker there. Nothing new.

Don't even mention the fact that 60% of voters, shills included, think that some other firearm is better than Glock. This is hardly a win for Glock.

Now, we just need to wait for the fanboys to circle the wagons. :)

^ Hey that's not fair! :D

I respect all platforms, I'm biased towards the 1911 platform, but I'll give credit where it's due. The Glock platform, in my opinion sets the standard for reliability. There are many that'll run perfectly fine also, but answering the poll as the platform you'll trust "most" out of the box without getting the chance to "break it in," yeah... that'll go to Glock.

I'm far from a Glock fanboy, but I do see where they shine.

I'm not saying that the Glock ISN'T reliable out of the box, or that it deserves a reputation any less than any other, what I'm saying is that THIS poll is very flawed and that it does not show, as one poster characterized, "Glock by a landslide. No hanging chad issue with this vote!"

What I am saying is that this poll shows that a majority of people feel that something other than Glock is best out of the box and that there are a lot of other weapons that ARE just as or maybe, even more reliable than Glock out of the box.

I myself think that Glock is a reliable gin, but I do not believe it to be the be all end all of handguns. I've shot Glocks and I didn't care for them. They are great for some, not so for others.

Who was that guy at Norco who had his Glock go down and was doing some on site repairs a few months ago? :D
