I had you in mind Nem when I put the ESEE in there. If I would have had some "tongue" from the freezer I would have used that instead of a Roma.

I am going to have to bring these over.....I'm not letting them die on page 47, never to be seen? :D

No.

I pocket carry a M&P 340 with the smaller 405 grips when I pocket carry a revolver.

I don't see why with the right pockets though why the 305s wouldn't pocket carry.

I tried Hogue Monogrips on a J Frame in pocket carry mode (similar size to 305) for awhile.
Some pockets it worked some it didn't. I think the most versatile CT grips all around for pocket carry are no doubt the 405s.

I always wanted to try the 305s and found a deal I couldn't turn down.
We're I going to IWB or OWB a J Frame the 305s, would be my first choice.
Nice ergonomics and full grip.
 
I like the Remington R38S12 158 gr LHPSWC round - but it is +P rated and produces a less than comfortable recoil. That makes them too much for a lot of folks, including me most of the time lately. My backup is an old friend - a milder shooting 148gr LWC - a target round! It, unlike LRN & LSWC rounds, starts out at a diameter of .357" - maximizes the wound channel (The RN & SWC rounds' wound channels tend to close up.) for more rapid exsanguination. No, it won't shatter a water buffalo's hip - may not even make it through a human chest plate. But - it should do better at taking the 'fight' out of an attacker than possibly any other non +P round from a snub-nosed .38. Just my opinion, of course... and worth no mre than it cost (free!). Last year, I lucked into a few boxes of Zero ammo reloads of that round on sale locally - $7.48/50 - a steal.

PS flounder22 - we just got back from Gulf Shores and the Shrimp Festival -- great weather - fantastic time. My 642 in my pocket the whole time, of course.
 
442 & 360

In both guns I carry and shoot GDHP +P 124 grainers and they are easy for me to control and get second/follow up shots.

The 360 can take .357,but at 9 ounces I am not that young and strong.
 
According to the 2012 S&W catalog, the 340 & 360 PDs, with their Al/Sc frame, SS barrel liner, and Ti cylinder, weigh in at 11.2 oz. The M&P 340, with it's SS cylinder, weighs 13.3 oz. The lightest J-frame is the 351C or 351PD, both .22 Magnums with Al 7-shot cylinders, at 10.8 oz.

In the 'Duh...' department, some years back, I shot a "friend's" 340PD - loaded with 'hot' CorBon .357M's - the absolutely most painful handgun to shoot, IMHO - there is no mass - and nothing to hold on to. I shot over a thousand real .454's from my Ruger SRH as well as several .500 Magnums, .50AE DEII, and lots of .44 Magnums over the years. They were fun in comparison!

Ah, that's the answer to our riddle.

It had no cylinder.
Subtract the cylinder mass
from the total revolver mass = 9 oz.

The cylinder was replaced by photons
that kept the cartridges in place.

(I hope you know I'm joking here ...)
 
Started researching the 642/442 for purchase and found this thread.

WOW! What a great resource for people looking to purchase a 442 or 642.

I read all 8 pages straight through. Thanks to everyone.

Next time at the gun shop, I'm looking for a 442.
 
I have had mine for years so I guess I'm not new to the club and yes I sometimes carry it with the crimson grips in my pocket other times IWP

Finally got my 442 a few days ago. I have been dry firing like a mad man and it is smoothing out. Still heavy, but definitely better. Going to shoot it this weekend. Any thoughts on the 9 lb trigger kit?

I cant wait to shoot this thing!
 
I put the Apex Carry/Duty Spring kit in my M&P340, and love it. Don't have a pull device, but it feels around 10-11 pounds. Still heavy enough for reliable ignition. Also lightly stoned the rebound slide while it was out, and several hundred dry-fires.

I'm kind of in that same mood and mode these days. Not buying as many handguns but now going back through them for trigger work, sights, scopes, hosters and of course continuing to build the ammo supply.

Good idea on the Apex, which is applicable for the X42 items and all J Frames I am assuming. Any downside to these conversions?

Apex makes a good trigger for the X42? Yeah?
