For me, the Brady Campaign is right behind Satan for my most hated entities...

Then again, there's probably a reason these two are so close. Perhaps they are one in the same. I think they need to change their name from Brady to "Legion" for there are many...

I am stealing your 'Legion' remark. Next time I meet another Christian, I may use this one.

If WV could just have ignored that Juvenile Possesion law, we would have earned our "F." Well, we got our time out and our demerit in '03.

That's why there are so many D's and so few Fs.

It was enlightening to see that Virginia and South Carolina have one-gun-a-month laws.

Shocker that my state is an A-. I wonder what would give us an A+?
State registration
No FFL's and or Gunshops in the state
Follow along with DC's handgun ban..

I honestly dont think we are that far off. I gotta get out of this Left Wing hell hole! :cuss: :banghead: :fire:

Crap. I'm surprised to find that my states, (I live in Iowa, but I'll always be a Nebraska boy,) both scored B-! Most everybody owns guns here, and many hunt... I know the CCW situation is bad, but I'd think we'd manage to score lower than that. I'd suspect it's probably due, like most places, to an inordinate amount of influence from Omaha and Des Moines. Larger cities generally blame all their crime on guns instead of the scum that choose to live there.

What's the deal with Missouri getting a C+ ?

2004 grade is down to D+. Brady also has some facts wrong. They say you have to be 21 to get a permit to acquire a handgun, but they don't know that that law doesn't apply to C&Rs. Find a handgun made before 1955 and you can buy it at 18, so we deserve a D.

We have some stuff planned for 2006 that should get us down to D or D-, but probably not F.

Yet.

Welcome to Kintukee, boys! Weehaw!!  :D

First time I've ever felt good about an F. Long live the Bluegrass. All y'all with A's need to move out here to God's land and bask in the apparent freedom.

It surprises me that Ohio only got a D-. With such places like Cleveland, Columbus, Toledo, Dayton and Cinci, I was a fraid Ohio would get a C or lower :D

I do think we need to work harder to get our F

All we need for that to happen is for Ernie Chambers to go away.

Well when you put it THAT way, term limits arent ALL bad afterall!!!!!!!! :) :)

I really must admit to respecting Ol'Ernies persistance, even though its missplaced and we agree on virtually NOTHING!!!!!!!!

Senator Combs sounded optimistic about the CCW coming up for full debate in the upcoming session ( Jan. 06, I believe), last I heard she has enough votes to squelch Ernies filibuster. ( we really need a crossed fingers emoticon ;) )

Updated original post

I updated the original post to reflect 2003 propaganda.

I left the 1999 for comparison.

I'll bet if your state banned all guns and armed police with batons, they would get an A+

Aren't grades in some respect supposed to reflect a curve? If so, the Brady Campaign needs to readjust its metric. The trend is definitely below average and slipping.

Virginia only gets a C/C- ???

Dang, we got work to do!

At least we have some property in New Mexico, a D+/F state. They's hope when we move!

D-? But...but...but we added concealed carry (in vehicle) of long guns, and we banned employers from forbidding their employees from leaving guns in their cars! What's it take to fail around here?

Ya gotta get rid of those silly laws about kids not being able to possess guns! And cut the part about 'required training' to get a CCW. That should drop you to an F+.

TEN HIGHEST STATES FOR MURDER 2003 (PER 100,000)
(1) Louisiana 13.0 F
(2) Maryland 9.5 A-
(3) Mississippi 9.3 F
(4) Nevada 8.8 D
(5) Arizona 7.9 D
(6) Georgia 7.6 D
(7) South Carolina 7.2 C-
(8) California 6.8 A-
(9) Tennessee 6.8 D+
(10) Alabama 6.6 F

TEN LOWEST STATES FOR MURDER 2003 (PER 100,000)
(1) Maine 1.2 D-
(2) South Dakota 1.3 D
(3) New Hampshire 1.4 D-
(4) Iowa 1.6 C+
(5) Hawaii 1.7 A-
(6) Idaho 1.8 F+
(7) North Dakota 1.9 D
(8) Oregon 1.9 C-
(9) Massachusetts 2.2 A-
(10) Rhode Island 2.3 B-

This is pretty quick and dirty, so you can draw your own conclusions. I think at a minimum it shows no relation between gun control and the murder rate. I got the numbers at http://www.benbest.com/lifeext/murder.html , and they got them from the 2003 FBI Uniform Crime Statistics.

Just because I'm sure some of the Brady leftist extremists have visited and will continue to visit this thread, let me add this:

You're a good source of laughter. The Three Stooges' routines are richer in genuine comedic content, to be sure, but we can make do with you and your antics on an occasional basis. You folks are definitely 50% witty.
