I didn't really like your choices...
Of the hand guns listed, I voted the Beretta 92 FS. It is a great, reliable gun. If I were to select a gun to protect my family, I would feel comfortable with the Beretta, but it would not be my first choice.
If I were really concerned about self defense. I'd get a remington 870 with a magazine extension. In most cases, shot guns are better home defense weapons than any hand gun. Hand guns don't have stopping power. Shotguns have stopping power to spare. It doesn't matter how big the hand gun cartridge is, hand guns are lousy stoppers compared to shot guns.
My choice of defense hand guns would be much different than your list.
I would choose a 4" GP100 as a home defense hand gun. That is what I have for this application. If I wanted a autoloader, on a budget, I would probably go with a polymer gun. I would choose a glock, or a springfield XD. I would also consider the aluminum-framed Beretta 92 fs, but I'd prefer one of the two polymer guns that I listed. I would probably go with the G17 and get some good ammo.
