Not counting BB guns. My experience with firearms started at 10 years old. Ruger Blackhawk with magnum loads/black powder rifle. The first guns owned were a Marlin lever action in .35Rem. and a 20g single shot shotgun. Didn't pay attention to who made it but I was 11 years old. The first firearm I owned as an adult was a 1911. I've added several toys to the toy box since and I've been carrying a USP40 full size for the last 12 years.

My parents were absolutely against guns growing up, even BB guns. So I never got around to shooting until I was 19 years old I believe. Started off with a friend's .357 and 12gauge.

.45 T/C Hawkin. I bit too big for me, but the old man got a seneca and away we went. Shooting BP guns did teach you to either make the shot or notr since reloading took time.

I don't remember which firearm I used first as a boy scout, but the first firearm that I purchased was an AR-15. Then, I bought a 10-22 a few weeks later :)

Yes, the first gunpowder-fired firearm I shot was a .22, an Ithaca model 49 single-shot (I still own it, in fact)

technically, the first projectile firing device I started with was a Daisy model 105 (pre-Buck), shooting tin cans and soda cans off a sawhorse, under supervision of course, Dad made me treat even that underpowered air gun with respect

The first time i ever shot a gun it was a .22 semi-automatic (not sure what brand). It was my grandpas, and after that he introduced me to his .357 mag (he was a retired volunteer police officer). The first shot was very amusing to him, but he switched me over to .38's which were fine, but i was really shooting them just to shoot them, not sure if i really hit the target so much :)

Yeah, at Scout camp. We used single-shot bolt-action .22 rifles, and for each round of firing activity, we were 'issued' a wooden block with five rounds of ammunition. When we were done, we had to hand the block in with all brass accounted for.

In terms of general firearms, the first one I fired was a ruger 10/22 when I was very young.

In terms of pistols, the first I fired was a hi-power 9mm when I was 11. When I was 18, my father gave me a Hi-Power 9mm, and within 6 months I saved enough for him to purchase a buckmark .22lr to give to me for me to practice with.

I heart the .22lr in sidearm format!
