Is their a CCW reciprocity between Ga and Florida ... and can you legally carry in Disney World? Any local want to give some advice on carry in Fla?

How about the best place to get park tickets also .....

I think recrocity exists between FL and GA. Check out www.packing.org
they are excellent and will link you to the appropriate state websites. The last time I was at any of the Orlando parks, there was no prob carrying. Just be very discreet. I use IWB or pocket holsters when "doing Disney".

And avoid the flip ya upside down/turn your guts insdie-out roller-coasters...:barf:

As far I know, Disney is as anti-firearm as Sarah Brady. They have done more to discredit hunters than any other company. Why would you want to give them your money?

GA and FL do have reciprocity and it's a boon as I travel between the states often. The last time I was at the them parks in June they do a hand search of all purses, backpacks, FANNY PACKS and shopping bags and there are lots of Orange County Sherriff deputies mulling around the turnstyles. I personally have not carried CCW in the parks but I do seem to recall POSTED SIGNS in the ticket window and turnstyle areas prohibiing any weapons on the properties (this was at Sea World and Disney's EPCOT). Best to check again once you get there.

Disney and its leadership are anti-gun. I understand they've even gone so far as to remove prop guns from their exhibits. I don't know why you'd want to go someplace expensive just so you could stand in one line after another.

If you MUST go, and if you're going to have young children along, make sure you don't go on Disney Gay Day. Otherwise you might have to answer questions like "Daddy, why are those two men kissing?" or "Daddy, why is that man wearing a miniskirt?"

I have never seen signs posted anywhere in Fla execpt gunshops. As far as I know, from friends working there they do not frisk anybody, but they do check bags. And in Fla all they can do is ask you to leave. And Sherrif Berry is pro gun. Park in the parking lot, remember which one and wait for the tram. Check out Olde Town while you're here. Don't open your door for the pizza man and be careful at the hotel (keep your gun hand free in the parking lot).
There used to be a gun range on I-drive near isney where you could shoot ClassIII but I don't think it's there any more other than that stay off I-Drive nothin but tourist crap down there.
Let me know if you need any more info I've lived here most of my life and grew up as a Disney brat.

Disney has a no firearms policy. There are no exceptions. They are polite and professional about it and will lock your handgun up for you and give you a receipt.

They also search your bags before you can get in, although they don't search your person. IIRC, there are no visible metal detectors at the gates or security points.

I have visited Disney at LEAST twice a year from mid-1999 until mid-2003 and I've been armed every single time.

They do check bags but if your firearm is concealed, they shouldn't be able to find it and as of this past summer, there were no metal detectors.

Additionally, Florida state law prohibits local & county governments from enacting their own gun laws. So any signs posted would not be legally valid.

Finally, if caught carrying a firearm, the only thing that they could do is ask you to leave. If you refused to comply, then you have a problem and could be charged with armed trespassing.

I have small kids and go to Disney and Universal Studios Orlando frequently. I have never seen a "no weapons" sign (minor exception -- keep reading) and I have looked. There are no metal detectors. Half-witted security guards visually check inside bags and purses, including fanny packs. Pocket or IWB carry will get by easily. If there are no signs -- its not illegal.

Exception -- the night-time Halloween events (Horror nights at Universal Studios and Hollow-Scream at Busch Gardens) are much higher security and usually do have metal detectors and "no weapons" signs. I had a bad experience (described on the Firing Line) trying to check a legal CCW at Universal Horror Nights.

I pocket carry in theme parks regularly.

Otherwise you might have to answer questions like "Daddy, why are those two men kissing?" or "Daddy, why is that man wearing a miniskirt?"

Easier to answer that than to answer equally reasonable questions like "Why do people in the Middle East kill each other?" or "Why do politicians insist on being entitled to half of my daddy's paycheck?"

;)

As long as you carry IWB and don't ride anything too crazy that might result in you losing your gun, you're okay. There is no state law against carrying there but they will ask you to leave if spotted. If you decide not to carry it, DO NOT LEAVE IT IN THE CAR. You'll come back to a broken-in car and a missing handgun. Best bet if going that route is to leave it in the hotel room safe.

Disney has a "no firearms" policy in their theme parks, but it isn't actually posted anywhere.

They search your bags before letting you in, but not your person, so if you are carrying concealed, they will never know. The bag search is laughable. There are no metal detectors. As long as you keep your gun concealed, no one will be the wiser, and if they do discover you have a gun, they won't ask you to leave unless you refuse to let them lock it up for you.

HankB, you are spreading misinformation about Disney. I have no doubt that their liberal leadership is anti-gun, but you are wrong about a few things. All the gun props are still there. They still sell toy guns at WDW. You also imply there is some kind of official Disney Gay Day, and there is simply no such thing officially organized by Disney. Yes, the gay community organizes days where a lot of gay people congregate at WDW, but this is not officially sanctioned. Disney has no control or involvement with it.

Disney is pretty left-leaning and very liberal on most social issues, but little kids don't understand those issues nor do they care. They enjoy what is truly a wonderful experience. I don't know of a single other venue that compares to it. As for two men kissing, I doubt you would see it but if your kids do, I'm sure you would have a good answer. I know I would.

Don't know anbout DisneyWorld in Orlando, but I do know that I've carried every time I go to DisneyLand in Orange Co. CA on person, not in fanny pack. They've also done away with the shooting of the hippo on the Adventureland boat ride for PC sake.
Boys could still buy the plastic swords and Davy Crocket long guns last time I went, but who knows nowadays? Fess Parker must be wondering what happened in the last 50 years, eh?

Adios

HankB- Will ignore the somewhat offensive stereotyped comments and agree with Lone_Gunman

Axeman_g- If you are actually worried about showing up on GayDay, i believe the florida one is some time in July. Don't quote me on that, i'd check www.gayday.com to be sure (Or if you're squeamish about going there, i'll check it when i get a chance.)

Gay Days will be around the first week of June. So if you don't want to answer the questions such as why are those men holding hands ? or why are those other people out front with signs saying hateful, scary things? schedule your trip around them. June in Fla is not the best time to spend the day outside, better than August tho. Oct Nov or Dec are the best months

I was at DisneyWorld at the end of March, and there were no signs, but I knew from online sources that guns officially are not permited, and they did a fairly thorough search of camera bags and other carry bags at the entrances. However, contrary to some of the rumors then circulating, the pirates in the Pirates of the Caribbean were still sporting firearms aplenty. Aye, matey--more rum.

I based my "misinformation" on what I read in the following thread:

http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=6004&highlight=Disney

So there seems to be some difference of opinion on what's going on. (Though there DOES seem to be agreement that the hippo isn't being "shot" any more.)

And as for GayDay . . . several years ago, my cousin had the misfortune to be there with her family when it happened. The displays they saw were more offensive than mentioned in my "somewhat offensive stereotyped comments" and not at all what she expected when taking her kids to Disney.
