Howdy folks.
Normally, I introduce myself BEFORE starting a rash of postings.
Please forgive my rudeness (bless me Father for I have sinned; I have posted more than 15 times without introducing myself . . .) for just barging in.
My handle (ArfinGreebly) is borrowed from my Uncle. It was his pen name when he was writing. Now that he's gone, I try to live up to his example. Real talent. Smart guy. Serious integrity. He was a real wit. I'm about half that.
His dad (my grandfather on Mom's side) was a ballistics expert and all around inventor. Hatfull of patents. I sometimes wish he'd lived long enough to teach me the proper use of the light sabre and other noble devices. Sigh.
I live in Western Nevada (in the capitol). I work for a gaming outfit as a software/firmware engineer. Been doing that a long time in one context or another.
I've lived in several states -- born not far from where Holley knives were made (and evidently still are). Lived in the deep South. Lived in California before the revolution (midway 'tween Sacto and Tahoe).
My DD214 says I left the USAF in 1972.
Married . . . a long time. More than once. Two sets of kids, three still living. All over eighteen. Couple of grandkids.
Been to Europe and England. Learned Danish (with a Vesterbros accent). Love the British. Sad for their plight as a society.
Know my way around knives.
Have . . . some . . . projectile weapons. A little bashful about listing them, but I have the basics (as long as you consider not having a 1911 as "having the basics").
I may have said this elsewhere, but I'm a recovering coward. Joining the USAF was just my way of dodging the draft. Always been a little timid around things that go bang. Always been wary of those who like them or have them.
Until a few years ago. Things change. I parked my prejudices long enough to learn. Glad I did. I have a lot of catching up to do.
I hope to learn much here. Hope I can be of value.
