Howdy folks.

Normally, I introduce myself BEFORE starting a rash of postings.

Please forgive my rudeness (bless me Father for I have sinned; I have posted more than 15 times without introducing myself . . .) for just barging in.

My handle (ArfinGreebly) is borrowed from my Uncle. It was his pen name when he was writing. Now that he's gone, I try to live up to his example. Real talent. Smart guy. Serious integrity. He was a real wit. I'm about half that.

His dad (my grandfather on Mom's side) was a ballistics expert and all around inventor. Hatfull of patents. I sometimes wish he'd lived long enough to teach me the proper use of the light sabre and other noble devices. Sigh.

I live in Western Nevada (in the capitol). I work for a gaming outfit as a software/firmware engineer. Been doing that a long time in one context or another.

I've lived in several states -- born not far from where Holley knives were made (and evidently still are). Lived in the deep South. Lived in California before the revolution (midway 'tween Sacto and Tahoe).

My DD214 says I left the USAF in 1972.

Married . . . a long time. More than once. Two sets of kids, three still living. All over eighteen. Couple of grandkids.

Been to Europe and England. Learned Danish (with a Vesterbros accent). Love the British. Sad for their plight as a society.

Know my way around knives.

Have . . . some . . . projectile weapons. A little bashful about listing them, but I have the basics (as long as you consider not having a 1911 as "having the basics").

I may have said this elsewhere, but I'm a recovering coward. Joining the USAF was just my way of dodging the draft. Always been a little timid around things that go bang. Always been wary of those who like them or have them.

Until a few years ago. Things change. I parked my prejudices long enough to learn. Glad I did. I have a lot of catching up to do.

I hope to learn much here. Hope I can be of value.

Games?

Sorry.

In Nevada, "gaming" is about legally separating people from their money in large, glitzy, noisy, soulless establishments called casinos.

It's officially called "entertainment" here.

Welcome from a fellow Nevadan

I lived in our capitol for a year myself -- just a stone's throw from the Governor's Mansion.

Next time you're at the Cracker Box, have some of those great onion rings for me :D

Welcome to THR :)

He was a real wit. I'm about half that.

Does that make you a half wit? :D

Really, I am glad you introduced yourself. In my short time here I have learned a lot. You will too. Do you smoke cigars? Again, Welcome.

Welcome to THR! If you've got the "basics" you've got more than me.

Any chance of recommending me for a job? :D

ci.

Welcome.

"In Nevada, "gaming" is about legally separating people from their money in large, glitzy, noisy, soulless establishments called casinos."

Went once to an Indian Casino in Rhode Island/Conn. Huge place. Hated it. Blew about 45 cents on the nickle slots. My girlfriend won about $3 she had a good time.

What a creepy place filled with creepy people.

Thanx Guys

Eyesac:
Thanks. Glad to have some company up here.

WheelGunMom:
Cracker Box? Only been there once -- breakfast. I'll have to investigate.

MDMadrid
Darn. I've been found out.
Nope, I don't puff. Bad experience when I was 7 years old. Did you know that human skin can be green?

Cloudedice
I dunno. What's your racket?

All
Y'all are very kind. I'll try to behave.

The title of the thread made me want to post.... :)

I'm fairly new here, also. Used to cruise TFL back in '00... just started visiting gun boards again.

I thought about introducing myself at first, but I've been to boards that will flame you for that. This place doesn't seem to be that way, though. Anyway, nice to "meet" you all.

Welcome to THR, lots of good folks runnin around, I always thought a 1911 was part of the basics:neener: even though after many years I myself just barely got one:rolleyes:

Welcome and post lots

Anyway, welcome to THR!

Vesterbros Dansk

Så er det også med mig. Kartoffel i halsen? LOL.

Det er, som man siger, at "Danske er ikke et sprog, men en halse sygdom."

(For those fortunate enough NOT to speak Danish: It is, like they say, that "Danish is not a language, but a throat illness.")

I learned it from a guy who spoke no English, so his sounds are my sounds. I didn't learn to read the stuff until later. I won't claim to be good -- it's been more than 20 years -- but if I had to, I could survive there.

Pistol Plates?

Pistol plates?

Tell me more!

(And yes, Ken, the capitol IS West of Los Angeles -- just about 90 miles West. And just about 325 miles due North of Santa Barbara.)

Nice to have another Nevadan around. I live just down the road from you a bit in Douglas Co. Tis a great area to live in. Hopefully we can keep it great.

A belated welcome & hello to your belated intro; I have enjoyed reading a number of posts, and I look forward to more of them.

Thank you for your service in the USAF.
