If he signs the bill, what does that say? If it doesn't sunset, what is the point of having him in office?

No.

I'm one of the people in Pennsylvania (a battleground State) that G.W. has to prove he's going to abide by the Constitution and not go along with all the Liberal trash that has gotten into Government in the last 40yrs.

I'm a Conservative Democrat that has one foot behind G.W. that might vote for a 3rd Party Candidate.

Never going to vote for John Kerry.

IF Bush were to push for a renewal of the the "AWBan", I'd have to either vote against him, say for a 3rd party candidate, or not vote at all.

Though I would be totally against the renewal, I would still vote for Bush.

I think gun owners are gonna suffer even more under Kerry.

And on that note, us Military are gonna suffer even worse under Kerry.

I hope that my retirement orders has Bush's name on them instead of Kerry!!!!!

No

I am far from satisfied with GW but I will vote for him as the lessor of two evils. If he went out of his way to renew the AWB I could not vote for him. That would be the final straw. I would not vote for Kerry under any circumstances. If it was a choice between Luicifer and Kerry, I would vote for Old Scratch.

If Bush renews the AWB....

Then mountainclmbr votes for the Libertarian candidate.

If Bush renews the AWB it will be political suicide.....like dropping a mortar in the tube then putting your head over the tube to watch the round drop to the bottom.

If he were to sign the AWB, I'd dump him in a heartbeat.

That said, I might not vote for him anyway. There are too many other flies in his pudding--- Patriot Act, amnesty for illegals, etc. The list is long and nasty. Someone has a sig line that reads like 'don't confuse a longer leg chain with freedom.' He might SAY he's in favor of personal firearms rights, all the while surrounding RKBA with dozens of new "rights." Each new 'right' will infringe the 2nd Amendment only 'slightly' but in the end, he can accomplish the same thing the Dems want, but with OUR help.

Don't listen to what he says, watch what he does, and remember, he has hands in every government agency and every citizen's pocket.

By the way, never, never, NEVER EVER go on record that you unconditionally support a controversial opinion, issue or person. Let 'em work and worry for your support. You can't keep a politician honest (as long as he's alive) but you can keep him looking over his shoulder.

This has been rehashed a couple of times . . . but perhaps it bears repeating.

If the AWB is renewed, it will ONLY be because of a GOP President, a GOP majority Senate, and a GOP majority House.

That will make it a GOP gun ban.

If the GOP enacts a gun ban, I will hold the entire GOP Party responsible, since they control the executive AND legislative branches. In which case, I will not vote for ANY Republican at ANY level of government even if he's running for 3rd assistant dog catcher of my home town.

Better a declared enemy (Democrats) than a backstabbing "friend."

It will be hard enough to vote for GWB anyway, with his kowtowing to Vincente Fox, his Medicare expansion, his farm subsidy expansion, his dirty art subsidy expansion, his tendency to spend money like a drunken sailor in a bordello after 4 years at sea, and so forth and so on. An AWB renewal would be the straw that breaks the proverbial camel's back.

If the AW were renewed, and Bush signed it, I would not only vote against him, I would actively campaign against him, including putting an appropriate anti-Bush sign in my front yard.

Rick

As Hank says, the GOP controls all the elected branches of government; If the AWB is renewed, it's a Republican ban, and I'm going back to the Libertarian party, where I can at least vote without taking a barf bag along.

Good Queation!

To vote for Bush under such circumstances would be to sell my soul.

However, Kerry, in my opinion, would be much worse. I believe that he would try to ban additional types of guns and or close the "loopholes" that allow us to remove the bayonet lug and flash suppressor and still keep most of our AR's.

A simple extension would be much preferable to a Kerry/Clinton/Feinstein outright ban.

Having said that, "if" Bush were to sign such an extension, I would be looking really hard at some third party candidate.

My gut tells me that the House would not allow such a bill go to Bush's desk-- this year.

Thanks!!

Just an "FYI" in spite of my handle, I'm not Gay. I am big, and as Coordinator for the Michigan Chapter of the Pink Pistols, I do sometimes get accused of being gay. But I'm not. ;)

For those who might be curious, but don't want to ask, a friend of mine, who's active in the PRO-2nd amendment movement started a joke about "Big Gay Al's Big Gay Gun Group" and it stuck.

And with both of us being fans of South Park, it just seemed appropriate.

This is a moot argument. The AWB *is* going to expire. Period. It's as good as dead. There would have to be a bill pushed through both the House and the Senate to renew it, and it just ain't gonna happen.

And anyone who votes against Bush is voting for Kerry. That's just the way it is. Whomever would be the third candidate is so far back that *nobody* cares. We are going to be worse off under Kerry than we will under Bush. If Bush does sign a renewal of the AWB, and Kerry gets in office, we'll still have the AWB, *and* a ????load of other anti-gun legislation, along with more Clintonesque liberal hogwash.

Show me a Libertarian candidacy that stands an actual chance of succeeding, and I would strongly consider voting that way. But I'm not going to help Kerry win by splitting my vote for no good reason.

I would not only vote Kerry but

go out of my way to make sure that everyone else did too.

I would single handedly make it my goal to remove Bush from office.

There is just something about supporting someone whose only job was to stay asleep on the 13th in order to help millions of his constituents.

That being said if the ban dies I will do whatever it takes to get Bush reelected. This election is rather simple when it comes to strategy.

Not just No, but H*LL No!!

Bush has done enough damage to our liberty.

Renewing the AWB will be the straw that breaks my back.

If he signs it I hope he gains more middle-of-the-road votes, GOP & DEM, than he loses from all y'all.

Kerry = scary

Under Kerry we'll see the move towards the AWB = ALL Weapons Ban
