NOT! :D

Not that there's anything wrong with being a "redneck" but I don't think they'd HAVE me knowing my geekiness:
geekposter1-1.jpg

Obviously insipired by a poster Oleg did a while back, of a professional female who also was a gun owner, to break down the stereotype of many antis of what they want everyone to see when they think of gun owners: ignorant, backwoods bumpkins.

I know the lettering with the white background is distracting...all I have is Paint circa 1998 and I was afraid that the writing wouldn't show up without a white background. Of course I have the unedited image to tinker with further. As well as different text and image ideas. Like ending it with "PROUD to be a geek and PROUD to be a gun owner."

Right about now, I'm kicking myself for not wearing my Green Lantern ring, especially HERE where I use it as my SN! :banghead:

I put on my Glock as a way to reinforce the fact that my gun ownership is NOT just for hunting. Actually, it's not for hunting at ALL, but recreation and SELF-DEFENSE. But with just the SKS, the hunting idea might have come across. The G19 showed up much better than I would have thought, more dumb luck than playing the lighting for maximum effect! ;)

I consider myself kinda like that too. I love anime, and I'm a Simpsons addict, I can recite all sorts of obscure little details from the series.

Good work though, and I see you have fine taste in firearms with that Yugo M59/66 SKS.

I'm addicted to SciFi channel as well. The original movies always have such great gun handling that I can't pull myself away  I think I have more fun watching the bad movies than the good ones.

I guess I am a redneck too. Born and raised here in middle TN, I also played Classical Piano for several years, Jazz and Concert band, raised and rode horses, hunted and fished, played chess, super user, software trainer, and inventory control manager for the company I worked for. Went back to school and got a degree in Elementary Education, and am now teaching 6th grade English, Social Studies, and reading. I love sci-fi, anime, cartoon network, X-Box, comics, played basketball, coached youth soccer and now am coaching girls soccer at one of the local high schools. I surf the web, play with my kids, go to Church, love my wife etc. So exactly what is the prototypical redneck? ;)

So exactly what is the prototypical redneck?

probly me. i wear justin boots, wranglers, big buckles, flannel and plaid button up shirts, tshirts with no sleeves. i have a bunch of guns, a gun rack in my truck with a shotgun and a rifle in it, i have a CB with a big ass whip, and a knife taped to my shifter. i have a mudtruck that i built, i hunt, fish, shoot, drink beer and go shinin. i can rope and ride, i love campin, and the outdoors. im not very good with a computer. i dont play video games. only tv i watch is Cops, UFC, and huntin shows. so im probly your sterotypical redneck.

So exactly what is the prototypical redneck?
I am! I love guns, hunting, pick-up trucks, bass fishing, & Hank Williams Jr. What is more, I never want to live in a city. I am definitely the image of a redneck.

Oh wait, I also love visting cities with great art museums, I listen to Mozart more than I listen to Hnak, I collect books, I love Donna Karan suits, and I know that my wife is smarter than I am.

I guess there is no prototypical gun totin' redneck.

Let's see, I live in Texas, drive a lifted Dodge pickup, wear boots, jeans and t-shirts, and carry a gun, so I guess I qualify.

Oh, wait, I'm a lawyer, have two undergraduate degrees, speak Chinese, grew up in Canada, had season tickets to the Dallas summer musicals when I lived there, Les Miserables is my favorite performance of all time, and have been to several Broadway shows when in New York. Guess I'm not a redneck.

Certified Arkansas redneck here, with a little TN, LA(not Los Angeles), and GA thrown in for good measure. Hunt, fish, have a 4-wheel drive w/big mud tires. A decent collection of firearms for PD, hunting, general shooting fun. Also have a Master's, love The Simpsons, Star Wars and Trek, and the Sci-fi Channel (esp Battlestar Galactica!). To quote Hank Hill: "I'm complicated".:D

Lets see, I live twenty miles from the nearest town (population about 19,000) I've got two pickups with gunracks in both back windows, my hatrack in the kitchen doorway is a boon and crocket class six point (Western count) Mule deer rack, one of my favorite musicians is/was Roy Orbison, but wait.... I also drive a SAAB Turbo, ride a BMW R1150RT, consult for telecommunications companies, I dunno I guess I'm nothing.

Not much for sterotyping individuals into groups. I guess, if I had to, I'd consider myself a "good ole boy." Don't drink alcohol, chew tobacco smoke have a jacked up truck or a rebel flag so the "Redneck" just don't quite fit. Don't like anime or comic books. Enjoy classic reads and moderns. Love my revolvers and semi auto pistols, my pump shotguns and my classic rifles as well as my AR-15, drive a jeep but not a jacked up wrangler or cj, a simple grand cherokee. Love Bar-B-Que done right in a roadhouse setting or in the wide open yet can dress up and go to a fine restaurant. So I guess, like I suspect each of you do, I enjoy my individuality. :)

Do you have a permit for that light saber? They should ban those things!

As for me... White, mid 40s, I hunt, I fish, I watch NASCAR, I voted for W... twice. I grew uop in the city but I live in the country by choice. I enjoy going to the rodeo, LMAO at Larry the Cable Guy but have seen Phantom of the Opera and Cirque du Soleil... and liked them both. I listen to anything from Hank Williams Jr to Pink Floyd to Bach. I drink a lot of beer and 12 year old scotch. I'm an IT professional at a large university who would become a cabinetmaker in a heartbeat if it paid as well as IT. I drive the stereotypists crazy.

Drive an 86 GMC four wheel drive truck, hunt, love my guns and think Model 94 Winchester is the best gun ever invented, wear jeans and boots to work every day, listen to Hank Williams Jr...total redneck.

Love to travel, own a Mercedes, painted more when I had the time, love to read, have a business degree from a 4 year university, love fine cuisine, listen to Bach at night...not so much.

Lets see, Late twenties, learned how to shoot from a father who served in the Marines and my mother is Japanese. Grew up in a small town in Middle TN. played classical piano violin, and viola. Was active in Boy Scouts and made Eagle Scout. Competed at the state level with my swim team and was a co-captain my senior year. Went to college and graduated with a BS in Biology and minored in humanities with a concentration in English Literature. I went to medical school and am halfway through my residency.

I have never been hunting, do not own one rifle with a wooden stock.. every one I own is black/semiautomatic/military style, I own many pistols none of which are made of plastic, watch Formula 1, enjoy driving sports cars and own an s2000, also enjoy driving offroad and own a jeep wrangler that... well has very few parts left that are Jeep. I too drink lots of Beer. I listen primarily to classic rock but enjoy perusing the 1000+ classical music CD's my father collects. Oh yeah, and I usually get along better with the maintenance guys at the hospital than most of my colleagues... Most of them ask me why I didn't become a mechanic when they see my garage. I actually watch very little TV other than the news. I am a complete internet junkie. I love irritating my bosses by talking to my patient's about firearms and lifting jeeps.

Oh yeah, my nickname at work is "redneck asian"

Green Lantern.

Not quite! The picture kind of threw me off. At the risk of stereotyping, you're much too yuppie looking to be a real redneck. Most of us have bigger bellies. I'll bet you don't even have stretch marks, poser. :)

I guess I don't fit the mold to well. I'm 49, ride Harley's (and have since I was 19), drive a Jeep CJ7 and a 67 Mustang fastback, wouldn't listen to country music unless you held me at gun point (and even then would plug my ears and hum loudly), been a city boy all my life (although I hate city's and can't wait to get away from them for good), haven't hunted since I was in my 20's and haven't worn a cowboy hat since that awful day I rode a mechanical bull when I was 20. I do love Sci-Fi channel though, but only for the 2 or 3 hours each day Mon-Fri when they actually show Sci-Fi. The B grade horror stuff sucks. I do wear cowboy boots, but the kind with rubber soles, I hate clomping around like a horse on hardwood floors. Or maybe a like pig on concrete would be more appropriate.

But hey, I've had a Model 94 since I was 15 years old, that should count for something!

Oh, I loved Redneck Rampage. You long time computer games may remember that one.

Well, not one of you is a REAL redneck. Not one mentioned that you have five or six, large, lazy Heinz 57 dogs hanging around out on the front porch, nor a completely useless old wringer washing machine standing on the porch by the swing.

L.W.

Well, let's see. On my dad's side I might qualify. He used to claim to be of "Scots-Irish" blood, but the family only started to claim that in the 1940s because their real background was German. Even though he grew up in the southwest, HIS family was from Illinois. I grew up wearing western wear and totin' guns.

BUT, my mother is Latina. No cowboy hat wearin' southern drawal speaking people on that side of the family.

My wife DEFINATELY does not fit the Liberals' stereotype of a gun owner. She is also Latina, but looks more Apache. Since we live very close to an Apache reservation, folks are often asking her why she lives off res. Maybe I should talk her into posing for an RKBA poster.

Sorry bout the lack of hound dogs, My wife has a mini Weiner dog, and a min AKC black and white poodle, how'd that work? I do live on a farm though and have Horses and a few chickens too! Can that help me with the redneck street cred?

Oh yeah I'm a redneck. Born and raised (and later fled) in Cali. I do IT for a living, and have a 4 year degree. When I am not shooting or reloading, I play computer games, watch movies, NFL, bicycle, read (classical sci fi rocks). Yep I'm a redneck all right :neener:

I guess I'm another redneck who works in I.T. but I shoot guns, ride my harley, quads, race cars, basically anything fast and noisy.
Reminds me of that Charlie Daniels song "High-Tech Redneck"

I've spent most of my life in North Georgia, speak with a moderate southern accent, enjoy a good beer or a nice sip of Tennessee Whiskey, love to tinker with cars, love to take my rifles out to the range, and am looking forward to eventually getting ahold of a 4x4 pickup and learning how to hunt.

I'm also a college student, I drive a small Japanese sports car (though it is a little well worn), I've built my last three computers, I enjoy classical music and never listen to country, I could do well only having Cartoon Network, Sci-Fi, and the History Channel, and I go to an anime convention every year.

Almost no one completely fits a stereotype. ;)
