Just another "redneck" white male gun owner...

Driving a truck and working in construction is about as close to being a redneck as I get. And I only get half-credit for construction, I'm generally either painting or 'managing.' With the occasional joy of tearing things down.

Aside from work, I haven't owned a pair of shoes that weren't named after Dr. Marten or Mr. Chuck Taylor since I was in junior high, I think the Clash really were "The Only Band That Matters," and I have participated in a work of performance art (hey, she was cute... I mean, the work had conceptual value). Etc. etc. etc.. Most people would see firearms as a rather unexpected diversion for me.

I guess I'm a getting old Redneck.

I used to drive Jeeps and 4X4 pickups. Now I drive a Kia Sportage (a real "soccer mom" car) and ride a BMW K1200LT motorcycle.

I used to have the classic "Redneck" bass boat with big outboard motor. Now I've got a smaller boat and motor, but I still have a B.A.S.S. and and NRA sticker on it.

I used to hunt, but haven't for years now. I found it got somewhat boring, so now I fish all year.

I used to listen to country music, and still like the old stuff, but country music changed, and I wasn't willing too. (My kids like to say "Dad, do you ever listen to ANYONE who's still alive?" answer "No.")

I've never been to college, worked in the factory since I got out of high school but I read quite a bit and can normally hold my own in a conversation. I might not dazzle anyone with briliance, but I can string together a few words and make a coherent sentence.

I've been to the theater a few times, more than a few museums, and know which fork to use when I eat in a restraunt where the food doesn't come wrapped in paper.

Never owned a Winchester 94. I was always a Marlin 336 guy. I love single action revolvers and wondernine pistols. I like Glocks and 1911's. I like Winchester Model 70's and AR's and AK's.

I don't have any dogs, hound or otherwise. My wife has a couple but I don't claim them. They're some kind of yappy, dust mop dogs.

Born and raised and lived in Virginia all my life. I believe the South was the wrong side in the "War of Northern Agression" but still have a soft spot for them nontheless. I don't have any rebel flags or stickers or anything though.

I guess I'm just a 'merican.

Lets see!
Raised on a farm. First vehical was a John Deer. First gun was a 94 lever. First taste of booze was home brew my daddy made. First truck was a Dodge Power wagon 4WD. Married my childhood sweetheart. Live on 24 acres with 6 horses, 14 chickens, 6 ducks, and every dog that no one wants. Now have 11 lever guns, A dodge 4wd truck and to many single action revolvers to think about. I hunt, fish, and trap.
Don't know if I'm a redneck.
C R Charlie

OMG, He's got a light saber :what:
Think of the children!!!

:D
Just the fact that your net de plume is Green Lantern sums it up for me (he and the Flash were my favorites as kids).

Hello all. At the risk of being flamed on my first post, I have to ask .......what is the definition of a redneck? Please dont give me the (if you have to ask you will never know) response. I know rednecks and they dont give a s..t about what you think and they sure dont advertise it because they dont give a s..t. To the original poster. I guess those are all the guns you own? My guess is if you had others you would have managed to put them in the picture on your person.:neener: My definition of a redneck is.....a hard working person who lives in a enviroment where his or hers political views are influenced by by a small community and they refuse to adjust. Most of the responses I read crack me up. Please someone tell me what a redneck is.

I am from a small but wealthy town in a suburb of New York called Locust Valley. My friends and I starting calling our group Locust-Valley-Rednecks. Some of us went to private schools (even boarding schools!) others have families that are members of country clubs. One country club has a skeet range which is where my friend took me to learn to shoot skeet.

We should all be high class pompous asses but aren't. No we would rather go hunting than play tennis. (Nothing wrong with tennis I just don't like it.) We have pick ups where most have BMW's (actually one friend has both). We could be New York elitist asses but we would rather be our selves.

I like fine dining and BBQ best. I have worked on farms and in Marketing firms. I am who am.

I am also a big ol' geek for comic books, video games, and cartoons. and that's good too.

Whoever you are whether you are a sterotype or you break the mold everyone should be proud of who they are.

I live wayyyyy out in the country, 155 acres. Old 2500 Chevy 4x4. Horses, dogs. Barely graduated high school. Have long hair, beard and wear a ball cap. Own three cowboy hats. Wear jeans, boots. Like Hank Sr. Steeler fan ( ask Charlie Daniels )

CD in my truck right now is Dianna Krall. Favorite food is sashimi with a nice chilled Junmai sake. Have a 94 Mazda RX7 and …………………… own a $300 pair of ballroom dance shoes :what: My wife and I dance regularly. Yes, I can two-step

Watch out for those sci-fi fans..

next thing you know they got a PS90 ala stargate and a dressed up beretta storm for BSG.

And sooner or later they ask which flavor of 1911 custom frame keeps appearing in heroes...

Can a "kuntry" black male gun owner get in on the fun? After reading through this thread, seems like I'd probably have more fun with you all than I do with most folks from the concrete jungle...

I chew cope and usually spit in a Tazo or Snapple bottle, or a Starbucks cup.
Love camping, mountain biking, hiking, kite flying, the beach, a nice lake
Sucker for a good gin and tonic.
I do listen to rap, but it's also intermingled with some Sting, some Eric Clapton, some Sade, a little 'Bollywood', and a good amount of reggae.
I'll help anyone out but will stomp a mudhole in ya if you do me dirty.
Cops, the news, the History channel, Discovery channel, and Court TV is about all I watch.
Not a big NASCAR fan but I've loved grandprix motorcycle racing and motocrosses since I was little.
I'm a shirt and jeans guy but they're usually Polo jeans and shirts, and business 'button up' shirts. Throw in the occasional jacket, shirts, and jeans on the weekends.
I'm into computers, watches, firearms, electronics.
'Old fashioned' state of mind.
I have an Infiniti now but am working on a GMC truck.
I carry with pride and love the South which I passionately call 'home'. The whole reason I moved back down here, first child coming up and I wanted to raise him amongst some values and traditions.

Sometimes, we're more alike than you'd think.

Well Which is it?

...

I'm waiting.:D

Big Calhoun brings up a point, i know some country black folk. we hog hunt together, go fishin, and party together. theres also this one guy i see round town. a BIG(as in muscular) black guy on a Harley and his helmet has a rebel flag painted on it. he usually with a white girl on the back. it brings a smile to my face evrytime i see him.

I'm a mid-twenties, half-Chinese, half-Latvian first generation American. I'm college educated and worked for the Democratic Party at one point in time. I spend more money than is reasonable on books (though the same could be said for guns now also). I've also boxed for a few years so I'm in quite good shape.

I can't see exactly where the stereotype fits me besides the male part.

I'm not sure what a redneck is, but I know I am one.

I love the Idea of a million redneck march on washington DC. Especially if everyone was open carrying. I'm almost certain there's some loophole in the DC gun ban that says if there are a million of you together, it's okay.

I mean, that's why the army is allowed to carry their guns, right?

I dont think that where you are from or what you may choose to drive can earn you the right to become a true redneck.Apparently it takes 39 years ,alot of carparts ,deerheads and guns in the house to get there, atleast thats what my wife keeps telling me!!!! REDNECK IS A STATE OF MIND.:what:

The point of this entire thread is to point out that we are called redneck because we carry a gun. The MSM would have you believe that gun folks all fit a certain model, and in reality we just don't. Fact is that I consider myself a redneck, but then again I also know the origin of the term red-neck. As I understand it it was originated by upper crust English folk as a derogatory term for the farmers they came into contact with. Red Neck= Farmers tan. I grew up on a small farm, and consider the term a compliment rather than an insult. I know what hard work, family, God, and country are all about. The fact that certain elitest groups want to make fun of me for it, does nothing but cement my appreciation for the term. Come to think of it, the term hasn't really changed that much over time. Still have a large group of upper crust/elitest snobs trying to make fun of those people who have the drive, work ethic, etc to get something done.

So hi, my name is Bryan and I am proud to be a redneck!:D

Born in a Virginia Naval hospital, raised in a 1 stoplight WV town, started chewin' Red Man when Grandaddy handed over the pouch when we were squirrel huntin' (I was 12). Love night fishing (jitterbuggin') for bass.

Went away to college for a couple years, then decided to "turn the page" and moved to FL for 17 years. My favorite haunts during those years were Everglades Nat'l Park and Big Cypress National Preserve.

Became a licensed Airframe and Powerplant Tech during a 10 year aviation career. I was half-way through the program when AlQuaida started using aircraft as weapons of mass destruction, and sent the industry into the toilet. Don't ask what I'd like to personally "discuss" with ole Osama. On the day it happened, our school closed. I went home, turned on the TV, and sat through the day with a loaded FN FAL.

Now live "last back" in a holler, which has a bigger population of coon dogs than humans. In North Carolina, 15 miles outta a county seat population about 9000 (has more stoplights than where I grew up). Made a livin' for a year and a half driving an old Ford tractor. I cut and plant a garden every year, make extra cash pushing a chainsaw and splitting firewood. My wife bitches when we don't go fishin' on weekends off (a Peruvian-American redneck btw).

I too voted twice for Dubya. Least of all evils, at least in some regards.

I all too often am the one who gets called to put down/euthanize animals 'round here, but...I always say a prayer before I do.

I drive a 7 year old F150 lifted 4x4 "straight drive." I keep an old No.4 MkI behind the seat as a truck gun. I'm NEVER without a shavin' sharp knife. My CCW pistol is a Glock 27 (Trijicons) with a factory .357 Sig barrel sometimes installed, I don't even own a single revolver anymore. I REALLY like my Series 1 Kimber Custom Classic, and I'm on my third Browning HiPower. I enjoy handloading very accurate ammunition, and my favorite rifle caliber is ".30" closely followed by ".50"

I listen to Johnny Cash, Hank Jr., Lynrd Skynrd, Molly Hatchet, bluegrass, reggae, and my Daughter when she sings at church and at recitals.

And, along with much more,

My 2 FAL's have stickers on the receivers that say: "FARM USE"

We have a herd of Dachshunds, a terrier mutt, and a cat that goes with me everywhere when I take off in the woods. I have a 100 meter target range just downhill from my front yard.

I'm not prejudiced against anything but ignorance. But, in the Civil War, I would have fought and died for States' Rights.

Am I a Redneck? Well, yeah. -FNR.

Well, you don't see me on here at all, really. I'm Cajuns wife and he reads me all the interesting or humerous posts on here. At any rate, I was wondering if I rate as a redneck? I was born in Milwaukee, raised in Chicago, second generation born German American. Spent 7 years in Louisiana with my ex-husband (a real bayou boy), now I live in Virginia. I like bass fishing, hunting, pistol shooting, I can cook a mean squirrel stew, a great deer roast, not to mention my jambalaya and gumbo. I am active in both my church and Cajuns church (it's a mixed marriage, Baptist and Lutheran). I enjoy doing medieval recreation, target archery, classical music, operas, Broadway musicals, silk dresses and 4 inch heels. Just wondering where I rank.

When my dad saw me cleaning my .22 a while back he made some sort of joke about me being a redneck. I said "Dad... I'm cleaning it and it's in my room not in my truckbed. And it's not a shotgun."

edit: there's nothing wrong owning shotguns. :) i would just assume that the comic book redneck would own one
