New S&W 9mm

I was hoping for a double stack Bodyguard 380 to compete with the Ruger LCP Max. :(

Looks like a nice addition to the EZ series though. I know several people who have a heck of a time racking the slide on my 9mm Shield, but could handle one of these without issue.

What does it offer over a Shield EZ or Shield +?

More capacity over the 8 round Shield EZ (Equalizer comes with 10, 13, and 15 round mags), and a single action only trigger with a manual thumb safety. Also the slide is cut for optics.

What a stupid name.
Could be worse. SA calls one of their guns "Operator". I bet the prosecution lawyers LOVE that! Ronin (wandering samurai with no lord or master) is bad too.

At least "Equalizer" implies a fellow wants to be on common footing with a perp, not that he's some kind of warrior looking for something to shoot.

I had to stop buying Joe Rocket branded motorcycle gear as I got no mercy from the cops when accidentally speeding.

Thanks!

The gun actually seems pretty good. Kind of an (internal) SA alternative to a Shield +.

I'm not a big fan of those deep slide serrations; seems like they'd want to catch on clothing during the draw.

Its specs fall right between the Ruger Security 9 and the Compact version (my EDC). I think the name is awful. I can hear the prosecutor now: “why did you buy a gun named the Equalizer.” I’ll not even consider the pistol because of the grip safety. I carried a M1911 in Nam. It jammed once. I could not fire the pistol. Fortunately it was doing range time not in a firefight.

I will wait a bit before I delve into this new gun but it definitely looks to be very promising!

"M&P Shield Plus EZ" was probably too much

The name is a bit goofy but is equal to the task. I think it will sell very well, especially to people who want one of those micro 9s but don't like strikers.

I wonder if they will release a version chambered in 380ACP. If they DO release one in 380, I sure hope they spend the time and $$ to fix the reliability issues of the original EZ in 380. If so, I'll get one for the wife.
