Okay - my sister and her husband are relocating to Jawja... And finally merging households, since they only got married a coupla months ago... So, I'm there last night, grabbing some stuff they didn't wanna move, but was still useful... And she's on the phone.

"What about your dad's snake gun?"

...and it's sounding like they don't want to have it in the new house (my nephew hasn't been gun-proofed yet - it's on the way tho...) and they don't have a safe...

So I butt in, and tell her "Hey, no prob - I'll stash it in the safe for when you want it."

I was thinking it'd be something on the order of a S&W Model 10, a Snake Charmer .410, something like that...

18.5" Mossberg 500 20 gauge with a pistol grip. They thought it was illegal (due to the pistol grip) and didn't know how to dispose of it. In the box, with paperwork and Sears oil can... It's gonna get a little TLC, and then the occasional trip to the range...

Happy, happy, joy, joy...

A good snake gun is always cause for a Happy Dance. :)

Well, I used to have one in 12 gauge... Thought it was pretty kewl, at least until I shot it.

With 3" magnum buckshot.

Owie.

I hope the 20 gauge is a little more forgiving in the recoil department.

WOW! Thats a lot of snake gun. I use a .22 revolver with CCI shotshells.
Of course...thats just for the ones I don't catch and release. I have used a 12 ga. on snakes...but I don't usually see one big enough to need that much firepower. :D
Mark.

Killing snakes,
Well I have been through a flood , even in the big city, flood waters bring all sorts of critters, including snakes into the home, garages, workplace...

Out in the country, even without floods snakes can take up in old farmhouses, sheds, and woodpiles. Walking the farm or fishing resevoirs, flooded areas, crossing levees...you never know when you might run across a mess. I think we counted 40 -50 in a flooded home . Seen that many in a woodpile about to be burned on the farm...they just kept coming out.

Though you can smell 'em to avoid 'em, and you can leave a wide berth...better to be prepared...

You do a happy dance for a Mossberg? What do you do for a Remington - dance naked with lit sparklers taped to your head?

Keith

Keith, you do that if it's a Wingmaster - just watch out where those sparks land!!! :what:

For an Express, on the other hand, sparklers are replaced by glow-in-the-dark cool wands...

 :neener: :D

Tell ya what - you give me a gun, and I'll dance naked for you, with sparklers on my head.

Absolutely no guarantees that you'll enjoy the show tho...

And it had better be a GOOD gun, or you'll get a lap dance...

I'm almost afraid to ask what you would do if someone forced a Jennings/Lorcin/Raven into your hands.....

:what:

Seriously, though, give that Mossy a good home till they ask for it back.

Might be useful for charming those huge snakes like from that silly movie "Anaconda"
