Sons of Guns

I finally caught the show tonight and (well technically yesterday) and think it is certainly better than most of the junk that I catch flipping through channels. It is not overly technical and folks that are around guns all the time won't be amazed by it, but it is entertaining. I think it will likely draw some more folks to our side.

As for you folks that find the daughter annoying: An attractive young lady that likes and is knowledgeable about firearms.....I don't really see a problem here.

Saw it last night,
A show about guns that's shot in a positive light, what's the problem?
You all do realize that these crews have several cameramen that shoot about 200 hours of tape and then the director cuts it down to 30 minutes, turning the daily, mundane, chores of running a business into the "drama" that he wants to portray, Right?
It's cheap and easy to Monday morning quarterback.
I found no problem with the daughter, she's a strong, Intellegent, knowledgable, woman holding her own in what's considered a mans world.
The portrayal of her by the director is, It seems, geared towards attracting women to the show.
Overall, its all good.

I did like that they focused a bit (a small bit) on the laws around buying firearms. That guy who pouted a bit on wanting that shotgun but had to wait for NFA crap. Would be nice if they explained it a little more but just that they actually showed they could not and would not sell something in violation of the law was a good thing.

I was onboard until I slowmoed the cannon vs outhouse and realized that the house blew up from the inside. The daughter is like Britney Spears video, mute it and itll be ok :D

He explained that he had come out the night before and pyro'd the sh*t out of it
I think that was a good move, as most of us here know that a cannonball doesn't make wood explode

Is it good? Not really.

Does it have potential...yes.

Someone needs to wipe the blue house paint off of the daughters eyes and give her about 1/3 of the lines.

They need more shooting and engineering issues.

Don't give up...it has room to improve

They needed more time with Christos(sp?) the .50BMG "expert". I would rather have heard him talk about the history of the Browning .50 for an hour than see the actual show. Still, other than the shooting shows on the Outdoor Channel, it was the best thing on TV last night, although the Big Foot show on the History Channel was pretty good.

Finally got to watch it last night, really enjoyed it. One of the better gun shows I've seen, except for maybe Guns n Gear. I could do a little less with Stephanie though. The homage that was paid to Mr. Woody (WWII Medal of Honor recipient Woody Williams) was pretty cool.

Did anyone else think they were not very good shots during that shoot off? I like the show and I'm really starting to develop a desire for a suppressor.

I was hoping they were just at ridiculous range or something. But yeah, I expected their self described shooters to be a little better than that. My bud (ex USAF MP could have beat all of them in a heartbeat as I imagine a number of folks on here could.

if all you did all day was put a pin into a housing to hold part "a" together with part "b", it would be pretty boring

alas, that and accounting are the two main jobs in a gun factory.

What SWAT team was that, anyway??

The guy that ordered eight of the Saiga master keys was listed as a SWAT consultant. He spent $24K on eight custom guns that he could have bought for probably less than one third of that as warrantied factory production items from Remington, and the SWAT team member looked like the kid from "I'm from the Internet" fame.

Yeah, they were all pretty bad.

Besides that, i got a kick out of the film swap on the couple shooting the suppressed .22.... that was the same film they used from earlier in the day when that guy shot the saiga. a .22 isn't going to put large holes and rip paper because it doesn't have a WAD!.. LOL....

and damn, i am so sick of them and the Saiga already. the saiga is a pretty crappy gun, LOL.... and that guy wanted one and they showed him a short barreled version and told him its a month process. How about offering a standard version? I sure hope they aren't that stupid.

I agree with you, when Will said it was an honor to been standing next to a Medal of Honor recipient and that he wasn't looking to make any money from Woody's flame thrower because Woody had already had paid all his due's along time ago, I just thought that Will was a good/respectful guy for honoring Mr. Williams.

I was very surprised at the lackluster pistol shooting. I figured they would be much better shots than that. That blue shotgun she used was just ugly looking.:barf:

I was surprised as well at the bad shooting. If I had an indoor range at my workplace, I'd be in there every night after work putting rounds downrange.

Six million people watch this show. Think about that. Six million people saw regular joes buying Saigas and b!tching and moaning about the NFA rules.

How cool is that?

I caught this show last night and it was OK - don't think I would watch it again. Not sure if I misheard, but did the daughter tell a customer that the M1 carbine was not used in WWII?

Actually, she said *his* M1 carbine wasn't used in WWII. He came in looking to sell his "WWII M1 Carbine" which was apparently made in the 60's.

I didn't like the show so much the first time I watched it and wasn't planning to watch it last night. Then I saw Mr. Woody Williams on there and changed my mind. I've got a LOT of respect for that man, and was glad to see that they appeared to as well. All in all, I thought it was decent. Maybe there's hope for it yet.

they sure didnt know what they were doing ,when they shot the m2 browning 50 cal. every episode has a saiga shotgun in it somewhere . dont think i will watch again

Im looking forward to one of the future episodes featuring the "katana" which from what i could tell of a 2 second preview seems to be them trying to build the lightest weight AR-15 possible.

It's a TV show. As such it's meant to be entertaining. I find it entertaining. Like all current "reality" shows it's about 95% scripted (they just happen to bump into a MoH holder?).

I am not a cop and have no expertise on police methods but why does the lead guy need to switch from a 12 gauge to a rifle? What's wrong with the shotgun for entering a structure? At room to room range I think I would prefer a 12 to a 223 carbine. Or am I nuts?

exactly what I was thinking. When they were saying "it takes x amount of time for the lead guy to breach the door then transition to his other gun" I was also baffled as to why he can't continue to use his 12g? or why couldn't he breach the door and take 2 sidesteps and let the next guy go in first?

Because the shotgun is loaded with breaching rounds which only have a range measured in inches.
