I participated in a handgun safety class at the range today.
An entire weekend compressed in to one 10-hour day. (
)
I took my 336 with the hope that after the class,
I'd get a chance to shoot a few rnds with the XS GRs,
in my process of sighting them.
You see, when I called XS recently to discuss the fact that
the last time I did range shooting, my groups were far above POA,
the rep asked how far (above POA at what range: 50 v 100).
He said, if it's a long ways, with rear sight 3 full turns
from the bottom, then they need to send me a taller front post.
As best as I recall, it was 8" to 10" at 50.
But I wanted to be sure.
So I took it to the range today to check it,
thinking there'd be time after class.
But alas, by the time the class was over,
the rifle range was closed.
Que sera.
So, that leads to "this" question (6 lines down).
I like the idea of GR,
even though I see a scout scope on this baby eventually,
I'd like GRs as backup.
But this experience, having a front post too small,
is making me wonder if there's some other GR that could be better.
Do the Skinners fit first time every time?
Plug and play?
Or do they require tweaking like the XS?
