I bought my first pistol as soon as I could (just turning 21 years old).
I had wanted a S&W Combat Magnum since I was a teenager, so on my 21st birthday, I marched into my local Montgomery Wards store and over to their sporting goods counter. (Anyone starting to guess how old I am?
)
I plunked my money down on a brand new Model 19 w/6" barrel and walked away (no Instacheck then
) with a smile on my face.
I ended up adding to the "collection" soon, so while I probably put 8 or 10 boxes of ammo through it, I tended to want to baby it so I mostly shot the other pistols I bought after that.
That was in 1971, and it's still sitting in it's original box, in new condition, in my safe, just waiting for me to pick it up and wipe on a new coat of oil once in a while.
They say you never forget your first, so there you are.
As far as my other "first", her name was Sharon or Cheryl or something like that... whatever.
