What have you done in the reloading room today

Primed more Winchester .38Spl brass, this time with Remington No.1-1/2 primers. These will be 100 Hornady 158gr LRN and 100 Speer 158gr LRN. Both sets will be 4.2gr W231.
NOS primers or new? I see Remington components are beginning to trickle back in the marketplace. I still have some Reminton primers from the 1990s...

Sized and trimmed some .300 blackout and Norma .223 brass. I'm super impressed with the consistency of the Norma brass. It's from the Norma 55gr Tactical ammo I got a great deal on, but according to the interwebs it's not "real" Norma brass. I'm more than happy with it!

Pv is having a sale on primed 223 Norma still I think...

Built a table for the Lee Press. I cannot take credit for the design. The plans came with the stand.View attachment 1205809
Your going to like that little press, eventually you’ll want something bigger/ better (maybe).

That’s what I started out with and am finally moving on to a Hornady or Dillon progressive nine years later.
I’ve loaded thousands of of cartridges, mostly rifle, everything from 45 ACP to 300 Win Mag and about seven other cartridges in between. The press has given me no issues, I haven’t needed to replace anything.

Enjoy!!

All the temperature testing I've seen is most extruded powder is more thermally stable than any ball powder including staball. I don't normally appreciate relativism but in this example it definitely applies. Nothing beats h4350 and honestly nothing is even close for temperature stability.... it just so happens its a favorite in that cartridge. I spend way more time in the varget burn rate so I'm not a fan Boi, it's just what test after test shows.
I'm gonna go back to H4350( Had been using it before). I pulled the bullets last night and poured out what little StaBall I Had left in the yard :D.

@COLTSFANATIC1 Thank you, sir! It looks a whole lot better in person than in crappy cell phone pix. The best thing(s) about wet tumbling are 1) inspection of the brass...all the way to the bottom of the case...is a breeze. Including looking for marks, wear, and other defects, and 2) no more cleaning primer pockets. They come out pristine. That in itself was enough to convince me to switch.

I was unimpressed with StaBall as well.
One buddy of mine has had pretty good luck with the HD magnum variant in his 300PRC. Resized_20231130_173214.jpeg He had tried Retumbo, H1000, and… an alliant powder I believe; RL 26 I think. It Wouldn’t shoot but about inch and a half or 2. One of his creedmoors likes the 6.5. Another absolutely does not. I have some… have a ladder of the match variant to try in 308.
