What is your favorite ammo for .45acp?

I shoot mostly my various cast bullet reloads in my 625-6 mountain gun.Wolf has proven to be the most accurate factory load i've tried.

Depends on the bullet.

I load a 230 gr. LRN that I get from rozedist.com for $49/1,000, shipped to my door. Add 15 bucks for a thousand primers and a bit more than half a pound of Clays (say, 9 bucks), that's what... $73 a thousand, or $3.65 for 50.

Of course that doesn't include the brass; but at moderate power loads, .45 acp brass appears to last virtually forever, and I shoot a moonclipped revolver, so I always retain virtually 100 percent of it; so I consider brass part of the hardware. You mileage may vary at any one of a number of points, clearly.

Most of the ammo I've bought is UMC, seconded by Remington Golden Saber 230 grain. Still new to the .45 ACP and haven't bought a whole lot, yet. ;)

Right now I'm using Federal American Eagle for range work. I like it! It's very consistent and shoots well. I've used Sellier & Bellot in the past and it is good too.

For carry, my magazines get loaded up with 230grain Remington Golden Sabers.

:D

I recently had the honor of being introduced to EXTREME SHOCK ammo, thanks to the fine folks at this forum.

I think I would select the 'poisonous exploding terrorist decapitators' or perhaps the more strategic 'antitank incendiary fragmentary Dirty Harry' round. Not inexpensive, but you get what you pay for. Right?

Sorry, couldn't resist! :p

(P.S. say the name of the second one out loud, it's funnier that way)

(P.S.S. Has anyone else noticed that the three nomex fags on the opening page are the same guy??)

Practice: Blazer Brass, WWB, and Magtech. Magtech feels the hottest, I prefer it.

Carry: First mag is loaded with 230gr Hydra-Shoks. Second (and sometimes third) mag is loaded with Magtech.

After I burn through the hydra-shocks I have I'll probably start carrying the cheap winchester JHPs. which is what the first magazine of my thompson is loaded with.

Every .45 I own, and especially my 1911s, seems to favor 230 grain Remington Golder Sabers. Possibly the best-feeding, least malfunction-inducing JHP, coupled with consistent accuracy in most of my pistols, I've ever used. This is my exclusive carry load now.

Winchester White Box 100-round value packs constitute the bulk of my range ammo, though I sometimes use CCI Blazers, Wolf or S&B if I get good bulk deals on it ...
