Who carries a pocket pistol?

I have to admit I'm a Walther guy. I own a 1944 P-38 vet bringback, a 1971 Manhurin PP, a 1938 pre-war PPK, a 1970 German made PPK/s, a 1982 P5 and a modern P99AS.

The only guns I ever carry though are my 1970 PPK/s in .380 the majority of the time, and sometimes if I'm in a suit or jacket and tie and want to carry in a shoulder holster or alternately in super light clothes I will carry the 1938 PPK in .32. The '38 is just a tad thinner and lighter and carries better than any other gun I've carried. For me, everything else is too big. I practice with my guns a lot and have total confidence both in them and my ability to shoot them. I don't feel undergunned in the least with either model.

The Interarms imported W. German 1970 PPK/s in .380 is on the left. I have custom made wood grips on this one. The lovely little 1938 pre-war PPK in .32 is on the right. I have to honestly admit the little PPK is probably my favorite pistol in my collection. It's just awesome.

I don't own a pocket pistol currently but I'm in the market for one. Anyone here want to comment on the LCP versus the Bodyguard 380, particularly in the areas of fit-and-finish and trigger feel? I'm trying to figure out what .380 pocket pistol out there offers the best refinement and I'm willing to pay a bit extra for it, but I'm not sure where to go.

I know the Beretta Pico is coming out, and considering how much I love Beretta shotguns and the trigger feel of the PX4, I'd normally be chomping at the bit, but first-year models scare me, particularly after the teething issues I heard the Nano had.

And before anyone asks, nobody in my area rents pocket pistols as far as I know, and none of my gun-owning friends own any of these. I'm okay taking a bit of a leap of faith--I know the differences from one .380 pocket pistol to another aren't THAT huge, particularly compared to the differences in, say, 9mm full-size models--but I'd like at least some insight.

Mitlov, check out the Kahr P380. Wife has one for CCW and she loves it. It's true pocket-size and the long but smooth/light DAO-style trigger obviates the need for a manual safety to worry about under stress.
We did the recommended prep/lube and it's been 100% to date.
The P380 is the pricier version, the less expensive CM380 is supposed to be out soon.

I carry an LCP when I can't carry anything larger. Not ideal but 7 rounds in the gun plus a 6 round reload gives me 13 shots that fit in fit in my back jeans pocket. I shoot the little gremlin better than my .38 snub as well.

Actually, this thread reminds me that I'm overdue for a range session. I need to take the lcp and baby glock for a walk. Been shooting a lot of .357, .40, and .45 lately.

Tomac, my only hesitation with the P380 and CW380 is that from what I've read, they're striker-fire with a light trigger (3 lb 12 ounces for the CW380 as measured by gunblast.com) as opposed to having the longer, heavier pull of a hammer-fire DAO pistol. It's just a matter of personal preference, not a knock against the gun, but I personally feel more comfortable with a heavier trigger for pocket carry. Shame, because otherwise the Kahr P380 is exactly what I want--the right specs, and from reviews, the right level of build quality and refinement.

I haven't shot the kahr P/CW380 yet but if the trigger is anything like my CM9 it feels very much like a DAO trigger.

Pocket Pistols are fun and fill a unique spot in any collection. Yep, I carry one daily. I've carried them as an LEO as a back-up to my duty weapon and at other times when I just did not want a large bulky gun. I've got a couple of snub-nose .38s and a Walther PP series that see their share of off duty use as a light belt carry. But to me a true pocket pistol are those deep concealment guns when that becomes more of a consideration than threat or when it just fits the occasion better.

I have an American Derringer in .45/.410 since the early 90s. Great gun and has seen its share of pocket time for walks in the woods or fishing. The .410 field shot is a great snake getter.

Small pocket semi-autos I've used are the NAA Guardian in .32 and the Beretta Model 21A in .22LR. Both are performers and fit the bill as a true pocket semi-autos. The Guardian is a little thinner than the Beretta and the .32 is a larger caliber, but, I like the little .22 for cheap plinking fun. The .22s will do the job. Some folks say the rimfires are unreliable. That has not been my experience. I've had about as many bad primers on centerfire cartridges as I have had bad rimfires. I grew up in the rural South were .22s were a staple of most farmers. Just about everybody carried a .22 rifle or pistol in their pick-up truck and used them for shooting anything that needed shooting. Rabbits and squirrels were a given. Coyotes bothering livestock, raccoons in the garden, to putting up sausage and ham at hog killing time were all done with a .22.

Recently, I picked up a NAA Black Widow in .22 Magnum/.22 LR. Guess this has become my favorite pocket carry gun and I rarely put my pants on that it doesn't drop in my pocket. The two inch heavy barrel, enhanced sights and over sized grips make the little gun an impressive package. Since my wife has gotten into shooting, some things come in pairs

I have a NAA .22 mag but i stopped pocket carrying. it. In tighter jeans it prints way to much with that "fat butt" (i.e. the thick grip)..

I'm contemplating waiting for the CW380 or getting a P380 for when my CM9 is too large

LOL... I'm old, hadn't worn "tight" jeans in years.

I personally bought a taurus tcp to carry in my pocket, not a expensive gun so if it gets scratched up it doesnt matter.

I occasionally carry a pocketed Seecamp LWS-32, usually when I am also carrying something bigger. Actually, I work for a PD that mandates .380 as a minimum, on or off the clock, and only allows less-powerful cartridges as secondary guns. My usual pocket gun is a snubby revolver.
