This is what is usually on the bed or close by

S+W 66 in the lock box

HD gun is a CZ-75b loaded with .40 S&W Hornady TAP 165gr, loaded spare mag in a Sportsafe on the nightstand. Safe is left open at night so no fumbling. Its companion is a Surefire 6p next to the safe. I would use the Franchi I-12 with 00 buck for HD, but the 26" barrel would be difficult to maneuver around the house. My pistol is much faster and I only have to worry about 1 projectile.

Also in the safe is my Walther P99c AS with Corbon DPX 9mm 115gr as it is my daily carry pistol. Anything goes down and my wife waits in the bedroom with phone in one hand and Walther in the other. It's the most user friendly pistol I own.

Yes! A Colt Peacekeeper 357 magnum is in the nightstand drawer along with two speedloaders and a Surefire flashlight. There is also a dog on either side of the bed.

The 12 gauge pump and SKS are just a few feet away on the "ready rack" in the walk-in closet.

A DAO semi with tritium front and rear. Specifically, a Kahr K-9.

Seeing the tritium vials make me feel all warm and fuzzy when I wake up in the middle of the night, and thanks to them, I know exactly where I am in relation to the pistola. (Us old geezers tend to wake up a bit more often before daylight than some.)

'Cocked and locked', may be just dandy for range or carry, but, as a bedroom gun, I'll pass.

salty.

XD45 4" loaded with Hornady 200gr TAP and an Insight M3 under the barrel in the bedside table drawer, drawer open. Border Collie / Austrailian Shepherd cross as early warning system, Dobie is very quiet but a great backup. Eljay that's a beauty how did you get the snarl for the picture?

Just some friendly advice:

I did what you did for a while. but i realized i moved the gun around too much while tossing and turning to be able to locate it fast enough in case of emergency. I think i even knocked it to the floor once.

If you kept a gun on the bedside drawer or somewhere it will not move and practice reaching over and grabbing it (gun unloaded of course) it shouldnt be a problem.

and i have a loaded, decocked sig p220 sitting right next to the bed.

Mossberg Maverick 88 in a ready rack that hangs on the side of the bed in the small space between the wall and my bed. 00-slug-00-00-00-slug.

Glock 23 under pillow on opposite side of the bed.

Glock 27 in lock box in nightstand drawer!

After that... I open up the safe in the closet

WESTONSMITH - "For those of you who have a bedtime firearm, what do you do?"

I make certain the doors and windows are securely locked each night before going to bed.

Someone is going to have to make a LOT of noise to break in. And then.............

L.W.

Ruger P90 or P345 on top of a bookshelf beside the bed (I have little kids). Fobus paddle with two reloads. At night the safe also stands open with the loaded 870 inside.

I have some type of hangun in the bedside drawer or in a fanny pack on top of the bedside stand along with a Benelli Nova in the closet.

The only time I keep a gun under my pillow is when we are camping. It is cocked and locked in the holster. We did have an uninvited bear in our camper once when we were not home so I started bringing a shotgun as well.

686, the holster is attached to the rear of my bedside dresser for one handed access.

My personal best advice for peace of mind with your arms while you sleep, is to sleep with your (re-inforced) bedroom door securely locked. The noise of someone breaching that door should buy you the time to wake up and prepare yourself.

Noxx, if you fired that 686 off in your bedroom, would you be able to see, or even know where you were any more? Those suckers make a flash and boom.

Great advice on the door. The late Jeff Cooper wrote an essay* on home defense, meaning the way your home is laid out, and the bottom line was to make it so the goblins make so much noise getting to where you are, that you can be ready.

Glock 22 with Insight tac light laser, in a gunvault that opens silently with simple touch pad. Federal Hydrashocks. 2 full mags.

Cell phone to call 911 right after I take the gun out, if time allows.

Couple of $20 motion detectors downstairs. No one is coming up those stairs without me knowing about it.

And one or two other thingies that I'm not gonna post here.... :neener:

My basic plan in event of an intruder. 1. Get the Gun. 2. Get in defensive position with cover at top of flight of open stairs. 3. Call 911 if time allows.
4. Announce, loudly that I am armed and police have been summoned. Tell em get out, now.

They can take the car, or whatever else they find. Cops will get em anyway and insurance covers that stuff. BGs will not, however, get me or my family without a fight.

Mossberg 590 12ga with oo buckshot. leaning against the wall right next to my side of the bed. Also have a S&W 637 in my nightstand drawer. I orignally just put the bayo on for fun to take the pic, but have since left it on realizing that having a very sharp 3 foot spear could come in REAL handy in the event of the un doesnt fire or wontchamber a shell for some reason, or the BG starts grabbing for it, theres struggle, etc. I think it make pretty good sense as an extra backup weapon in case something goes wrong. Also has a 125 lumins Surefire 6p with a ressure switch.Good fo target ID'ing, and it will blind you if its shined in your eyes, even in a well lit room. Also lights up the WHOLE bedroom in the dark.

In the corner next to my side of the bed is a Mossy 500 "cruiser ready". First two rounds #4 birdshot, next 5 rounds are 00 buck. In the bed stand is a GLOCK 26 and Brinkmann flashlight. In my wifes bed stand is her Kel-Tec P32. The shotgun would be my primary go to gun. The GLOCK is closer and is there for a quick response if I didn't time to get to the shotgun.

2.5" 686+ and a DSPS Ithaca M37. On my girlfriends side of the bed, she prefers a CZ-75 compact and her Ruger .44 carbine (Original, no "Deerfields" here!)

Why not. But since I dont have any handguns...yet, either my M1 Carbine or WASR-10 have HD duty. I switch them out every now and then. I dont want one of them to feel left out or nothing... :D

I keep the Savage leaning against the wall by the bed, followed by the Glock on the night stand. The dogs will give me plenty of warning if someone is stupid enough to try to bust into my place.

Kimber Ultra Carry II with two extra mags sits on the bedside table. Husband can't have one on his bedside because he has a tendency to sleepwalk, but his shotgun is nearby in the closet.

A Tauras mdl 441 stainless with flang rounds. I don't want to worry about a saftey when I'm jerked awake, or have a round hit the house next door.
