The gun rights groups are trying to decide how to proceed. It probably revolves around whether they can control the conference committee.
Who controls the committee selection? The Speaker?

I'll take the AWB sunset any day ... the courts can fight the lawsuit nonsense. We can do our part by buying more guns and supporting their manufacturers. Tack the lawsuit immunity onto something else. The AWB must die.

How's the Kennedy armor-piercing 30-30 ammo ban coming along?

You know, in a sick way, I'd kind of like to see that amendment tacked on. Just to see how all the deer hunters who always say 'they're not after MY guns' would react, if they'd finally understand and raise some hell! It would be better if they would finally fight with us instead of watching from the sidelines... Maybe that's what needs to happen to get these bums voted out.

Disclaimer... I really don't want the AP ban to pass or the amendment to be added. Just something to think about.

Funny how all this turned into a focus on the AWB. Hardly a comment has been made about the lawsuit portion of the bill (actually, THE bill).

And my favorite quote from the article:

"Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-California, who sponsored the assault weapons amendment, said, "The legislation has the support of 77 percent of the American people and 66 percent of gun owners. "

Wonder who she polled? :fire: :cuss:

And as a side note to Senator Warner, I will vote for anyone that runs against you in the next election. Anyone.

You should be ashamed, coming from such a gun-friendly state, to have so horribly misrepresented the wants of your constituents.

I am so ashamed of what I am seeing. Passion over logic and facts. We have become a nation lead by spineless, emotional morons. The true will of the people is not being represented.

I am physicaly ill at what I am seeing.

I don't know wether to be sad or mad. :banghead:

Do these folks even know what they are voting for or why they are voting for it???

Nelson (FL) Aye again. Damn Democrats.

They are not voting on the Kennedy amdt yet. They are voting on the Frist-Craig amdt.

The DC gun ban.

Is the measure to revoke the District of Columbia gun ban part of this debate, on separate legislation? The DC gun ban is something of an outrage. I'm scared to death that I'll inadvertently wander into DC, get arrested for having an empty shell casing in my car, and spend 10 years in prison. Something really needs to be done about this.

Oh, okay...ayes here is a good thing then. Means they want to evaluate Kennedy's AP claims before passing legislation.

The Frist amendment is toothless, and largly pointless. I'm not that fussed over it, though I would prefer to see it defeated. The Kennedy ban on the other hand :barf:

Anyone who would vote for the AWB and "Gunshow Loophole" amendments would gladly trade the liability issue for them.

I would love to be proven wrong, but this is a done deal in the Senate.

Better chance in Committee of setting it straight, but I seriously doubt it will get out of committee with both the AWB and private sales both stripped out of it.

It's not like most of the people casting votes on these bills actually care about peasants' rights.

Y'all were aware of that, right?

what the heck is this?

2/26/2004:
S.AMDT.2630 </cgi-bin/bdquery/z?d108:SP02630:> Amendment SA 2630 proposed by Senator Craig for Senator Frist. (consideration: CR S1666-1670 </cgi-bin/query/R?r108:FLD001:S51667>; text: CR S1666 </cgi-bin/query/R?r108:FLD001:S51666>) :
-To protect the rights of law enforcement officers who are victimized by crime to secure compensation from those who participate in the arming of criminals. -

As opposed to those of the rest of us..... are we not as important if we become victims? I don't think I get this one. It's kinda like when people talk about how terrible Black on Black crime is. As opposed to being any more terrible than any crime against another human being.

Looks like alot of junk in this Christmas Tree

I am also seeing in all of this, that Democrats simply know how to fight Political War....and Republicans simply do not. Or choose not to.

The Democrats won this, have shamed Bush & the Repubs and are rubbing their noses in it.

C-SPAN 2 is scheduled to move on to another program at 3:00. I don't think we'll get to see the end of this movie.
