the dems tacked on a AWB renewal for 10 years. that is what happened. it got shot down cause of it. believe it was a 53-47 vote to get the AWB renewal on.
maybe it was 57-43 I dont recall. wanted this thing to go but more I think we should have a law that is not just for the gun industry but for all.

lets hope nothing new comes along and lets keep writing, phoning and communicating to representatives to make are rights are not infringed anymore than they are.

Sent letters and calls to both Senators. Kyl gets an unconditional attaboy, and McCain gets qualified OK.

Edit to comment I will still work to get rid of McCain, and put in a non-Manchurian Canidate.....liar.

I see that Fox and MSN are both STILL loudly proclaiming that the Senate has passed an AWB extension.

    They're "news" media? :barf:

    Results

If someone with the final tallies could post the results (who voted for what amendments, who voted what on the total bill), it would help me on where to put my efforts.

Some strong Republicans are running againt Boxer this year. Support them!!!

Well, both 'Bama Senators voted to kill the bill. This flies in the face of what I was told earlier. I'm baffled. Glad, mind you, but baffled.

One VERY GOOD thing came out of today's vote...........

Hanoi John (D- Hotel Carousel) is now on record as having voted FOR the
AWB. This is a good thing.......... This should help W in November, unless
he does something stupid between now and the election.

    Be of good cheer!......... :D

Ok so now lets say the senate had passed that would it have to go back to the house because it is so bloody diferent then the one they passed or would it just head right on to the pres' desk to be signed into law.

If nothing else we have 52 senators votes matched with their names. These 52 need to lead a very hard life. For all of you who want to move to Idaho think again. Senator Craig ha enough help. Move to California or some other anti stronghold. Work to remove the cancer locally. Not from a distance. Handwritten thankyou notes going out to my senators tomorrow.

    Hutch,

Larry Craig told them to vote against it.

    They have other strategies.

    Now that all of that is over;

    1. Write Senators Craig and others a nice letter explaining my appreciation for their efforts on S. 1805, and their support of the rights of Americans.

    2. Write the traitor John Warner and inform him he has made a new enemy at the voting booth.

    3. Write George Allen and tell him he made the right decision not to support the AWB. (And the wrong thing on the gun show amdt, etc.)

    4. Get the hell away from the computer and TV, because I feel like a bum for sitting here for days doing nothing but type on a message board and stare at the brain drain tube. :D

Wow what an afternoon. I spent it convincing gun owners at work to call or write their Senators (Stabenow and Levin) to vote against the overall bill when it came up. It happened on my drive home so I missed it. <editied to correct a mistake>

    Zark-9,
Too right. A lot of us are with you in that. Well put.

Edited to add: AP now has a story up with the headline, Senate Republicans Scuttle Gun Bill, which includes the following opinion (which way is the wind blowing now?):
