As much as I hate to admit it for me it was Ruger - and geeeee! I hate those guys.
I bought two Vaqueros in .45LC NIB for Cowboy Action Shooting. Worst pieces of rotten dog dung I ever owned. Loose action (i.e. lousy lock up), undersized cylinder throats that Ruger won't fix and one of them actually got some rust on the casehardened finish which I've never experienced on any other firearm I've owned in 30 years. I'll never own another Ruger as long as I live. I spit on Ruger and wish them ill. May the blue bird of misery fly up their nose - may an elephant stomp their tender toes. They're a disgrace to US Manufacturing. But then if one buys a cheap gun one should expect to get cheap quality and cheap performance.
