come to think of it, i dont think i ever have. im just curious, cause i think it would be cool to see some of that, like ive never seen a kid in like a violent role before, and it was a violent role, they used like martial arts or somethin. i mean its not like kids are less capable of handling firearms properly, i know im pretty capable of it. my dad told me once that i handle a gun better than a lot of the ppl at the range. i think it would be cool in a movie if they would show a kid handling a gun properly. your thoughts?

they'll never show a younger person using a gun properly, it would give the impression teenagers and children can be taught gun safety and as we know, most of hollywood is under the impression still that guns are completely evil and kill people so they have to portray them as such whenever possible. its their way of lending credence to the anti gun people, "i saw it in a movie so it must be true!"

heavan forbid they show guns as being safe in the hands of a properly trained/taught individual.

they dont even show the good guys using guns properly half the time, running around with their fingers on the trigger. the people making these movies dont know jack about guns so what they show in their movies reflects their knowledge about guns.

Back up in time and see youngsters using handguns, rifles , and shotguns in westerns.
Move forward to today and I've seen a South American movie about their slums and drug problems and a gang of young kids performed a hit on a rival.
I'm quite sure there has been several scenes of kids using guns in todays movies. Drug related will probably be your best bet, but there are films of kids hunting too.

I can't recall ever seeing a child or teenager use a firearm in a movie or TV show in a positive and/or lawful manner (except for maybe Red Dawn) ... plenty of "kids killing kids" propaganda though  .

yeah its a shame really... if they showed a kid in a movie using a gun in a positive, safe, and legal manner, it would really be an eye opener for the general public. perhaps a story about a violent situation that an 18 year old kid who has a CCW permit helps stop. it might be an effective way to change some of the anti's minds. of course liberal hollywood would never make a movie like that, they'll only make guns look evil.

the movie juice comes to mind. four black inner city high school kids get a gun and eventually one lets the gun get the better of him and he shoots his friends because he feels invincible with the gun, like a real life thug.

the movie is beyond stupid and IMO reenforces the ideas that some younger black kids have about guns, like "wow thats a reflection of my life, maybe i need a gun", or they get the entirely wrong idea and think its cool to be like the movie character and they go out and get a gun. most of these movies do involve black people so its not surprising black kids see these movies and then imitate that not knowing any better (this is where the parents should enter the scene and tell their kids these are just movies and are not to be taken seriously but the parents sadly are not there and the kids never get that message they so desperately need to hear and understand)

Just a few off the top of my head where the 'kid' uses a gun in a 'good' way. (the characters and/or actors may not fully qualify as 'teenagers' though)

Scream or Scream 2, Neve Campbell shoots the killer with a glock at the end.

Friday Ice cube has a glock and is going to shoot the bully, but goes for a fist fight instead.

Face/Off Austin's daughter uses a gun near the end, also uses a 'butterfly knife' to good effect.

Stand By Me I don't remember very well, but pretty sure one of the kids uses a gun to scare off the gang bullies.

I know there's plenty more, but the majority is typical Hollywood bad or improper gun use and handling examples. But there are good uses of guns in some movies out there.

Red Dawn is one of the big one's. I can remember seeing that as a teen and thinking that life like that would be fun. Glad that never happened.

Does "Shane" count?

John Wayne's "The Cowboys" and later "the Shootist"

In "Stand by Me", Wil Wheaton uses a 1911 to force Kiefer Sutherland to back down. Unfortunately, he had to go and cock his pistol after firing a warning shot to get the proper dramatic effect, which spoiled the scene (and partly soured the movie) for me.

In a quiet little movie "Night of the Wolf", Anne Archer is rescued from two bad guys by her "Son" (Zach Bostrom) who shot one using his last round from a lever-action thirty-thirty and held the other at bay with an empty gun.

Don't know if this is what you have in mind...
The last episode of "Medium" that aired Monday before last(?) had a girl about 9 that was being held by a pedophile. Alison's daughter had visions of the little girl getting a gun and shooting the captor - which happened when they went to the house to question him.
No comments or editorializing...the kid shot him - from a 2nd story window, with a snubby - they told her to put the gun down, she did, perp expired before the ambulance arrived.

I just saw Hostage this weekend.

In one scene, there's a 10 year old who opens his father's locked pistol vault, grabs the Beretta, and points it at the bad guy. He tries to shoot but did not take off the safety.

What gets me, and I've seen this most often in westerns, is when a girl- mostl likely teenage- picks up a sixgun and puts it on the bad guy, most often she'll forget to rock the hammer back.

I'm reminded of True Grit, where Mattie Ross carried the old Colt's Dragoon around in her search for Tom Cheney who killed her father. Tom Cheney himself told her to cock it not beleiving she'd have the guts to pull the trigger.

Shane was mentioned- I found the kid's mother really annoying. :barf: All she did was gripe about guns, thus preventing her kid from learning something important :barf: (as opposed to griping, or better yet doing something, about the bad guys) and scream when somebody- her husband and then Shane- finally stood up to do something about the bad guys. :fire: :cuss:
