ALL OF THEM, ALL THRU THE HOUSE, ALL OF THE TIME! If they are not loaded, they are just useless pieces of metal or plastic; throwing them at someone is not an attractive option. Yes, I know, what about kids in the home? Teach them from a very very early age! I have one rule: No matter how busy I am, No matter what I am doing, or how important it is, I will stop and take one of the kids shooting, or let them handle a firearm, whatever; anytime of the day or night, NO MATTER WHAT.
That way, the kids don't have to get "curious" about dad's guns; they know, and always have known, that daddy will let me "play" with them anytime they want; therefore there is no sneaking around, and no resulting problems. Of course, I realize that a lot of people can't walk out the back door and go shooting like I can, but you can still do a lot to cure their curiosity; as in, let them help you disassemble and clean them, how about helping dad reload ammo? You get the idea. All Loaded, All the time.
