Nothing special about it, but if I were to choose only one, it would be the Ruger SP101 with 3in barrel. Seems a good compromise to cover a variety of bases, and I like how well they are built.
I want mine back! (along with the $$) Love the Browning HP but I'm sorry I made the trade. Would love to have the old Sec. Six back...I miss shooting it.
I have a 6" Python, a SW 686, a S&W -19 4", a Colt Dick Spl, a S&W -28, and a Colt Police Positive made in 1932. If I could only have one for all uses, like the others above, I'd probably pick my -19.
At one time I had a Dozen 357s. I have Six left. If I could only have One it would be a toss up between the LCR and SP101. Since I carry both daily I would have to keep the SP and give the LCR to my Wife. Dose that work?
Geeze Iggy - while I understand the choice from one point of view, from another, that could never be my only .357... Too damn beautiful for me to shoot.
Best compromise (all guns are a compromise) is the Model 19/66. Balance, range of ammo, accuracy. Ask an old revolver cop who carried one for years. Besides, they just feel good.
I would sure hate to part with either of my 4" S&Ws. The 686-4 has the best trigger of any handgun I have owned.
The 586 is probably the most beautiful handgun I have ever owned, and the modified lug makes it less barrel heavy than the 686, so it balances better in my hand.
But if pressed to have only one, I would probably choose my 2.25" SP101 because it carries so much better than the L frame Smiths.
Honestly though, I'd probably settle for my father-in-law's blued 1976 4" Ruger Police Service Six as my "one" revolver.
I bought it simply because when I picked it up my hand and it made sweet sweet love only afterwards did I learn how exceedingly rare and in demand these are.
I have the same gun. Had a beautiful Mernickle cross draw holster made for it. I did'nt realize they were so rare. I did find mine had a factory trigger job with one or two coils cut from the TS. I bought it new. Any idea how rare these are?
