If you could have only one .38 / 357...

Were I to give up all but one...

Right now, I'd give this one up last but if I ever replace my stolen stainless Dan Wesson .357 - even the "King" will be relegated to second place.

Nothing special about it, but if I were to choose only one, it would be the Ruger SP101 with 3in barrel. Seems a good compromise to cover a variety of bases, and I like how well they are built.

I have a 6" Python, a SW 686, a S&W -19 4", a Colt Dick Spl, a S&W -28, and a Colt Police Positive made in 1932. If I could only have one for all uses, like the others above, I'd probably pick my -19.

Only one? 4" Python wouldn't be a bad choice.

Don't have one in my stable at present. Passed on a 4" King Cobra I should have bought.

At one time I had a Dozen 357s. I have Six left. If I could only have One it would be a toss up between the LCR and SP101. Since I carry both daily I would have to keep the SP and give the LCR to my Wife. Dose that work?

I have a S&W m19, m27 both with 4" barrels and a Python with 4'. Like the Python but for carry the m19 is my pick.

3 1/2" Model 27

You can shoot heavy magnums all day. Accurate enough for reasonable handgun use
You can carry it concealed if needed.

Many old time LEO's swore by it.

Geeze Iggy - while I understand the choice from one point of view, from another, that could never be my only .357... Too damn beautiful for me to shoot.

Best compromise (all guns are a compromise) is the Model 19/66. Balance, range of ammo, accuracy. Ask an old revolver cop who carried one for years. Besides, they just feel good.

I would sure hate to part with either of my 4" S&Ws. The 686-4 has the best trigger of any handgun I have owned.

The 586 is probably the most beautiful handgun I have ever owned, and the modified lug makes it less barrel heavy than the 686, so it balances better in my hand.

But if pressed to have only one, I would probably choose my 2.25" SP101 because it carries so much better than the L frame Smiths.

Honestly though, I'd probably settle for my father-in-law's blued 1976 4" Ruger Police Service Six as my "one" revolver.

For me it would be a 3"bbl S&W M64 or M65 because I find them to be the most perfectly utilitarian revolvers I own.

No question... even if I am basically a .38-guy - my 2 5/8" PC627 UDR is a keeper:

It cost me a kilobuck two years ago - took the sale of some old friends to fund - but what a keeper! Second place goes to my 4" 627 Pro.

It would be my S&W 60-18

I bought it simply because when I picked it up my hand and it made sweet sweet love ;) only afterwards did I learn how exceedingly rare and in demand these are.

I have the same gun. Had a beautiful Mernickle cross draw holster made for it. I did'nt realize they were so rare. I did find mine had a factory trigger job with one or two coils cut from the TS. I bought it new. Any idea how rare these are?
