If you could only have one semi auto hand gun?

Glock 34 with a flashlight on the rail.

Use the 17 round mags with the factory +2 extensions, so you can have 20 rounds before a reload. My ammo choice out of this setup would be Gold Dot 124 +P, it gets equal velocity to a 4" .357 magnum out of a Glock 34.

So in a nutshell, the 'stopping power' of a .357 magnum with the capacity of a 9mm.

A Kimber Custom II, since it's apparently the only gun I can hit anything with. :)

Let's see... $700 left? A Kel-Tec P32. Tiny and powerful enough.

The remaining $400 goes to ammo.

If limited to one gun and ammo prices were not concern, i'd look into something along the lines of a S&W 1911SC*.

It's a modified/disfigured 1911, that is lighter and easier to carry but functions wonderfully.

Then I would take the remaining money and buy magazines, and enroll in some classes to learn to use the gun to it's potential.

Steve

* You could realistically enter any quality 4" plus 1911 of your liking that you can carry the easiest.

Then again this was post 666 for me, so maybe I really meant to buy a Glock.

PLR-16. Sure, the Five-Seven's got 20-round mags. You can mount a reflex sight on the PLR - and you have 30-round mags of rifle ammo for high capacity and teriffic muzzle flash.

This may be a surpising pick, but.....

XD-40 is my pick. No, its not super expensive, but it is first rate quality. I'd be willing to bet the XD would shoot right along with the Sig's and HK's at the range. Based on my experience with my XD-40, its a rock solid, accurate, dependable gun. I'd buy 3 or 4 cases of ammo with the money that is left over.

One, and only one for any situation? As much as I hate to say it, my choice would be a Glock 17. 100% reliable, large capacity, minimal maintenance, world-wide availability of ammunition, etc.

I'd stick with my Kimber TLE .45ACP if I had to get rid of my other autos

But for my only gun I'd go with a Kimber Eclipse 10mm with a barrel for .40 S&W, 2 guns in one :neener:

Or a Glock 20 with an extra G22 barrel

I'd have to go with a dual caliber or easily convertable gun.

You sure about that?

Yes, quite sure. The polygonal rifling of the glock combined with the 5.3 inch barrel give astounding velocity. At the bare minimum it will beat a 4" .357 SIG

115 grain Blazer (not even +P) clocks at about 1380 fps

I'm pretty sure that 124 grain +P will do about 1450fps, which is almost identical to 357 factory loads. I haven't chronoed this load, but it would stand to reason that my guess would be close.

115 grain is factory rated at 1150 fps out of a 4" conventionally rifled barrel
124 grain +P is factory rated at 1220 fps out of a 4" conventionally rifled barrel

So about 70 fps more in the 124 +P.
