Just curious, what's the FBI duty gun?

Interesting, very interesting. Any idea what is on this list? I would assume past issue weapons 1076, maybe a M13 for older agents, but are there other non-previous issue handguns on the list?
Haven't seen the list in about 2 yrs so don't know what the current list is. The 1076 was not on it. Don't recall seeing the M13 either. I might still have a copy of the 2 yr list around the house but I wouldn't know where to begin looking for it right now.

Not to hijack

the thread but can anyone confirm that the .45 ACP load used by the SWAT/HRT is the 230gr Golden Saber?

Golden Saber

That was the round specified for the accuracy test. I remember Bill Wilson whining about it not being an accurate enough round to shoot what was required.

Not sure if it is the issue round.

FBI issued weapons...

To my understanding in recent years(1985-2006) the FBI went from the S&W model 13(.38spl/.357magnum) revolver to the SIGarms P-226 9mm to the S&W model 1076 10mm then back to the SIG and S&W 5906 9mm then to the Glock model 23/22 .40S&W models. FBI SWAT/HRT units used the High Power 9mm Les Baer custom .45acp and Springfield Armory 1911a1 .45acp pistols.

As I've posted before, the DoJ/FBI had a major civil lawsuit brought by female agents that could not qualify with some of the FBI issued duty weapons. Now FBI agents can carry many types of sidearms.

BTW: FBI agents are called Special Agents not Officer. ;)

Graduates of the FBI academy are issued their choice of a Glock 22 or 23 in .40 S&W. All agents have a choice between those two guns only and are not allowed to carry a backup gun.

There is an acception. FBI SWAT Team members are issued Kimber 1911 style .45ACP.

It's that simple!

I made a mistake... the 1911 style .45 that FBI SWAT teams members carry is a Springfield. And they issue that to ALL FBI SWAT, not just the HRT or special teams. It is infact loaded with 230 grain Speer Gold Dots.

Everyone else get one of the two Glocks. A G22 or G23.

Grammar Nazi Warning!

Hate to do this, but it's "exception". Acception, if a word, would refer more to the "accepting" process of....I dunno, a frat house? :scrutiny: Sorry!

It's late, please stick to the topic and leave the gramar corrections to the english teachers.
